gardener Posted April 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2004 My husband and I will be crusing to Hawaii in Sept. We are interested in the Molokinl &turtle arches snorkel tour. Has anyone done this at this time of year? If so, how were the currents and water temp. We have not done much snorkeling and would not want to be scared off from a great experience. This site has given us so much information before, hope this works. Carnival spirit,2001 Alaska RCC Adventure of the seas so. spleen93 Posted April 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2004 There are usually very little currents in the area of Molokini and Turtle Town/Coral Gardens area because they're protected areas from the wind. You should be OK from that standpoint. Temperature may be a little cool in September - some snorkel tour operators offer wet suits for people snorkeling - you may want to inquire about this. Water temperatures may be as cold as 72-75 which may or may not be too cold for you to swim in depending on your cold tolerance and where you're from. spleen93 Posted April 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Not a problem. Just remember if the wind acts up or the water is rough, the snorkel companies usually reserve the right to divert from Molokini and to head towards calmer waters instead ... so you may be foiled in your attempt to reach Molokini. This happened to us once ... but we still had a good time!
