Black lava jewelry

Somewhere...I read about buying black(?) lava jewelry...possibly in St. Lucia. Has anyone heard of this??? and yes, I have done a search (both Ports of Call board and this one) and nothing came up. This is driving me crazy!!

Black Coral jewelery is very popular in Hawaii since it is rare and not easy to find.

My guess is also black coral. There is some available in Grand Cayman.

No, it wasn't black coral. I know how pricey that can be...and when I read "lava", I thought that was something very different, possibly a reasonable price and would be available at one of our ports this cruise.

I found a lot of it over in st. Thomas , but I had to go in every store to get a few necklaces I love it, and it make a cheap gift to bring home

There is a market at the pier and I bought mine from one of the vendors there. They are located behind the shops in the pier area. (flea market area)

They are cheap, about $ 5.00-$ 7.00 each. They come in different colors, the black ash, then some pink yellow or green beads.

I've never heard of it, but it does sound interesting. Does anyone have any pictures? BTW I thought black coral was considered endangered and not allowed to be brought into the US, am I wrong about that?
