Miami Post Cruise - What to do????

First time cruiser and have never been to Miami so could use some help here.

Our flight out of Miami is not until five in the afternoon, ship arrives in port at 6AM. Any suggestions as to what to do for the day without a rental car and toting luggage (tours, museums, etc.)?

I'm sure your cruise line offers Miami excursions after debarkation. Check into that--they store your luggage on the bus and will drive you to the airport at the end of the day.

Another thing to consider is that although your ship docks very early, it is unlikely that you will be off much before 9AM......then the airlines will want you at the airport for a couple or three hours before your flight(depending on where you are flying), so, it really wont be a long day for sightseeing.

We had good friends miss a ship once because they tried to do too much. :eek:

I would suggest perhaps you do rent a car? You'll have someplace for luggage and anything you do that day will cost you in transportation such as cabs, transfers, etc. There isn't anything around the port you can walk to, so you'll have to get there somehow. A one day rental won't be that much, you'll probably spend more in transfers and/or cabs for the day. And it would give you the freedom to do things. You can hang around South Beach or Bayside Marketplace. Either of those places are great to spend some time.

 

As previous poster said, you can also do an excursion such as the Everglades or something through the ship.
