Need some help with Ft. Lauderdale info!

Ok, here is the questions. There will be 8 of us traveling to FL airport the day before our cruise. We are not all flying from the same airport, actually 4 from one, 3 from another and 1 from another. My guess, is that we will need to rent a van. Due to the fact that we will have to go back to the airport to pick up the others. Any other options available or cheaper to rent the large van? Where to stay? We are looking at getting 2 rooms to sleep 4 per room, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Thinking of using the van and dropping it off at the rental place and getting a shuttle to the port. Now what do we do on the day we get back from the cruise? Rent the van again?

Anyones help with this will be great, as somehow I got in charge of this! LOL

Renting a van sounds like too much of an effort. Two great hotels in town, the LaQuinta in Hollywood and the Hampton Inn in Plantation both have a free shuttle that will pick you up at the airport and bring you to the cruiseport the next day. There's no reason why you couldn't ride the hotel shuttle to meet your friends at the airport if they get in later then you. When you return from the cruise, just grab a couple of cabs to the airport.
