ok here is what you do, go buy two large rum runner flask and one small one. Put the two large ones in your checked bags, take the small one and you can put it in you lower back and tuck it into your pants don't fill them up all the way. Works everytime! Hope that helps

Why does it have to be one extreme or the other ? Who says they need a bottle of booze sooo badly ? Why does it have to be someone who spends thousands on a cruise is trying to save a few $$ by bringing a bottle ?

Why can't the situation be that I like a drink on my balcony. I like to have

my own liquor so I can have that drink where, when and how I want it. I am certain I will not be denied boarding or thrown off at the first port. It is no trouble to throw a bottle in my luggage and if it is found, has never occured, not only is it no big deal but I will probably get the bottle back at the end of the cruise anyway.

My point is it is not a lot of effort, I don't care about the few bucks it saves and in my situation I feel there is no chance of being kicked off.

It is because I spend thousands on a vacation that I want to have the

option to make my own drink in the privacy of my cabin. I am fully aware

I am breaking a rule and I am willing to be held accountable for my actions.

I don't think RCI is anywhere near as concerned with this issue as

so many people on this board are. I think RCI is just trying to show a little effort to protect the company from any legal liability and probably to a lessor extent to preserve a profit center.

Great post.:D

The day I go on a cruise with a flask in my pants is the day I either quit drinking or quit cruising.LOL

Give ME a break!! Do you honestly think RCI is STUPID enough to throw pax off the ship just for having a bottle of alcohol in their luggage. If you do, your thinking is beyond rational. Teajak, I thought you had more common sense than this.....
I really do,I just wanted to see if you would be their to back me up.LOL

So... Do they pat you down or check your pockets when boarding the ship? I've never been on RCCL before. Could you get away with just a few of the tiny bottles of alcohol in your pockets so you can have a drink on the balcony before dinner a couple nights?

I know the risks and would accept them, just wondering about boarding procedure.

Thanks.

This works well as I can't imagine them patting you down. Just make sure the minis are the all plastic one with the non-metal caps so that there is no chance of them setting off the metal detector. I doubt they would since the mini caps are thin aluminum and not very large.

:D I don't smuggle although if I was to sail with RCI again in the near future and, assuming they hadn't changed their current policy of not being able to purchase a bar set-up for the cabin, I'd be sorely tempted to stick a bottle in my luggage, just for the hell of it. :)

Mariner last August, a 12 pack, 4 bottles of wine, and some good old Jack & Turkey in our carry on. The cabin steward kept it iced down for us all week, and we took a bottle of wine to dinner 4 different evenings. We still brought home a bunch of foo foo glasse's :D They will not let you buy on Ship and take it back to the cabin.

Our DD has worked on Ship and as long as you are not loud and a show off they do not give you a lot of grief about it.

Right or wrong, good or bad, after 15 cruises with many more to come in the future, (we hope) we will keep on doing our part to help pay for the new Ships, not just all of them.

I always read these posts and laugh and I usually keep my opinions to myself but I have to say something... There are rules everywhere and nobody can say they are not guilty of ever breaking any of them....

If someone chooses to bring a few small bottels in their luggage to have for their room WHO CARES!!! People call is "Smuggling" and act like it is the worst thing in the world. I just don't even have enough time in my life to judge people like that or even care what anyone else is doing.

The person only was asking if anyone has ever heard of anyone being kicked of a ship for bringing some bottles in their bags- Not on your opinion on how it is wrong or right!!!

I personally have never heard of that happening to anyone! I could care less what anyone else decides to pack into their luggage but personally on all of my past 5 cruises and soon to be 6 we have taken a few mini bottles. We have never had and issue ever.

We do not take these few small bottles because we are trying to save a dollar- we are "drinkers" and we have a HUGE bar bill every cruise but we like to have a few drinks when we go back to our room while getting ready for dinner or whatever!

Anyway, I have never heard of anyone being kicked off of a ship for this to answer your question. Has anyone else? In fact our cabin steward also kept our wine chilled for us...

Like many have said, RCI isn't going to put someone off of a ship where they are going to spend money all week long on (Bars, casino, shops, specialty restaurants, shore excusions and all of the other little extras) over a few mini bottles!

If anyone has ever heard of anyone being denied boarding due to this PLEASE let me know- I would love to hear about it!

So I´m glad you did so much better than the rest of us with just briefly answering the OP´s question with

"No never heard of someone being denied boarding because of this as of yet";) :D

So why are you providing a very long winded opinion on the subject manner?

I may have given "my long winded" opinion but I didn't just state that I thought it was right or wrong- I answered the question...... That "NO" I haven't heard of anyone being kicked off of a ship for this! HAVE YOU?;)

I too answered the OP's question. You criticized people for offering opinions, but went on to provide just about the longest opinion on the thread!

So since you think there is nothing wrong with sneaking on alcohol on cruises thereby breaking the rules do you also think that:

*It is OK to sneak alcohol into a bar on land?

*Sneak a bottle of wine into a restaurant on land?

*Sneak alcohol into a sports stadium?

I certainly do not lose any sleep over people smuggling and there certainly are far worse things that people sometimes do, but smuggling is bad behavior. If you want to pretend you are doing nothing wrong, go ahead. I find it funny that not only do you think you are not doing anything wrong but you are angry that other people feel that your behavior is wrong.

I cruised on Jan 20 and walked on board with three 8-ounce squeeze bottles filled with unknown liquids in my carry-on. I was not stopped or asked anything about them.

Of course, they were coffee syrups, but whatever. ;)

and one unfortunate couple decided to pack a bottle of wine in their carry on luggage. They had to face the embarrassment of having their carry on opened up and the offending bottle removed. I am certain they were not denied boarding, but most likely boarded without thier wine.

Unfortunately, moral and legal arguments aside, you are paying the price for the idiots have smuggle booze, gotten stupid drunk, and have been unfortuate enough to fall overboard.

Maybe you did answer the question- maybe I was not speaking to you directly at all but still you feel the need to spend your time replying to my post and telling me how "smuggling" ha is wrong.....

Get down off of your high horse. You crack me up!

As for asking me if I would sneck alcohol into a restaurant on land- that is not even close to any kind of a comparison because a dinner in a restaurnat does not inclued spending 7 nights in a cabin on a vacation....

I do not think bags are xrayed that are checked. (THEY should be imo) If you pack your liquor badly and it leaks then they may open your bag. If a bag was xrayed then put the liquor in smaller plastic bottles and in with your other toiletries and medicines. Trust me, a bottle of jack shows up on an xray, a glass bottle of wine shows but irregular plastic bottles do not set off any bells. Hope this helps. We like drinks in our cabin and still have a huge bar bill. We were doing shots of patron and lost track...$$$$

We were told at the Q & A on the Serenade that ALL bags are xrayed before being brought on board.

What would you do if security just showed up at your cabin? You can't just not answer the door. They have a key.

Once we get on board, we usually head out for the buffet first, as we haven't eaten since breakfast :D, and then are off to explore the ship. Then, on to the sail-away party! Ah, makes me sad just to think about that, stuck here in the snow......
