boquer Posted February 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2008 We will be spending a sunday in March in St. Martin. Are there any small towns or villages which could give us an idea of life on this island? Or any other typical experience? Thank you.
alphakitty Posted February 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2008 I would recommend Grand Case. It is so beautiful there...and yes, it has that little village feel to it. It was recommended to us by a local lady we chatted with at Orient Beach. We had lunch here at a "lolo". It's BBQ done by the locals....great food and good prices. Behind the lolo's there is the picturesque calm bay. You can check out my photos of the Grand Case area here: http://community.webshots.com/album/562385886UOaBBx
boquer Posted February 7, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 7, 2008 thank you so much. this looks a lot like our home town in puerto rico and is exactly what we're looking for.
alphakitty Posted February 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2008 boquer, you are very welcome. Happy to help. :) If I were to do a land vacation in St. Martin, Grand Case is where I'd stay. Lots of restaurants too in addition to the lolo's. We rented a jeep and drove all over the island...Grand Case and Friar's Bay Beach were my 2 fav stops. Not the usual stops for cruise travelers.
