Underwater observation room on the cruise ship?

I was talking to a friend who said her mother's favorite part of her cruise to Alaska was going below sea level on the cruise ship and watching wildlife underwater. Does this exist? I have not heard of any cruise line having this (other than from her).

I'm thinking she meant the Alaska Undersea Tour in Ketchikan. You board a semi-submersible vessel in which you are sitting under water to view the sea life.

I would think that the above would have to be the case, as pax are not allowed below the waterline on cruise ships, since that is where the engineering and crew spaces are, and they are off limits to non-crew.

I think she thinking of the tours in Sitka on the subs.

Sea Life Discovery Tours in Sitka has a semi-submersible boat that allows you to view underwater during the tour. There is also one point in the tour at which the boat stops & a diver goes in the water & brings some of the sea creatures right up the windows for you to look at. We did this tour when we were in Sitka & enjoyed it - -
