West side beaches and harrison cave on our own

Hi! I will be travelling on the NCL Jewel next week with my husband and my two 6 year old sons. My husband and I have been to Barbados before and spent about a week in Holetown and wanted to return there with our boys, eat at Cocomos etc in the monring and then head to Harrisons caves in the afternoon. I didn't want to rely on a tour here as we are pretty familiar with lots of the usual tourist attractions but we have never been to the caves and I think the boys will love it. From what i understand they should be open (we arrive on a Wednesday). My question is - is it easy enough to get a cab or bus from the pier to Holetown (beach) to the caves and back to the ship? Also, anyone have any idea how much this might be?

Thanks for your advice!
