raad04 Posted February 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Has anyone booked this excursion through RCI? It lists a a/c bus ride, then a carriage ride, viewing the convent, etc., return bus ride. Any thoughts you have will be much appreciated. Thanks
YucatanToday Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I don't know the details of the ship's trip, but Izamal is a fascinating colonial town. It's called 'The Yellow City', full of colonial buildings, an interesting cultural center, and Mayan ruins. You can read our article here: http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinations/eng-izamal.htm
raad04 Posted February 8, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks so much. That article helped. Have you been there? The details of the trip include a 1.45 min bus ride. When arriving we begin a carriage ride around town. (Please tell me that the horses are well taken care of, I have heard horror stories?) Visit the convent, etc. I do appreciate any extra info. We are so excited about this excursion.
YucatanToday Posted February 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2008 Yes! I've been to Izamal many times. The horses seem well-cared for, the convent is very interesting, and on the main square is a new Cultural Center which features arts and crafts from around Mexico. There is also a small store on the main square called Hecho a Mano which has wonderful crafts for sale.
