I have seen very complete packing lists and suggestions but can't seem to find them right now. We are going on the miracle 5/08 with 5 first time cruisers and 2 that have really only been on 1 previous cruise.......so, can some one please give me a link to whatever list I could print and hand out to mom and friends to help?

Thanks

or the ultimate list by Calgon:

As published, This Ultimate Packing List was designed for a seven day cruise of the Caribbean,

for two adults (well, one adult and one Calgon), traveling without children, and works fairly well for

most warm weather cruise areas; i.e., the Amazon River, the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Red, Arabian,

Coral, Tasman, Philippine, South and East China Seas, the Gulfs of Guinea and Mexico, the South Pacific and Indian Oceans.

easier to get by in a crowded cabin.

Since 9/11 we have not used locks on our luggage, and never had a problem. Do we have to lock luggage for the cruise. I remember reading somewhere that we should, and if so where do we get TSA approved locks? Thanks

I'm sure they have them in the luggage departments of major dept stores, AAA sells them, and they are easily found on line. TSA Locks

I'd completely disregard the long packing list. Many of the things that are listed you can't carry on. too much stuff for a 7 day cruise. And not enough cash. Travellers checks are passe' , useless.

there is absolutely no reason to carry both a passport and a birth certificate.

I'd hate to have to travel with that person. I was reading the list looking for the kitchen sink :p

I bought mine in the luggage section at Target, but I've seen them at other places. They list on the package TSA approved.

We don't use locks but use " nylon electrical TyWraps". You can find them at Staples. We then keep in an outside pocket a small pair of nail clippers to cut them off. If TSA needs to open they just cut them off and are alot cheaper than TSA approved locks. Just remember to pack extra for the ride home!

wow, that list is extensive and exhausting. I save space by wearing all my contraceptives aboard.

LOL :D We save space by not having to use them due to elective surgery :p

all that stuff she brings and she only brings 2-3 pairs of underwear for a 7 day cruise...lol

I sort of kind of think that packing list was for you to check off things you wanted to take with you. I'm sure it wasn't meant for anyone to take everything on the list. Were one to take everything on that list and all the other lists . . . you'd need a U-Hall truck to transport it . . . . :p

Actually, i think it was considered a good list for one to take it all... Why else specify each suitcase.....?

Something was left off though:

He forgot suitcase #4 for DW's shoes........

The list is titled 'THE ULTIMATE PACKING LIST'

for a reason. It includes all possible items. Of course you would not pack it all but it gives you a list to work from. I have used it many times (including and eliminating as needed) and find I usually end up with all that I need. Some things are not needed on a cruise but may come in handy for other trips and vice versa. I also posted other links and I am sure that as the OP reads through the answers they will find many items to be added or eliminated as their unique needs are considered. To just say 'disregard the long packing list' is very narrow-minded. Let them be the judge of what is handy, needed, or helpful. If you have something to add that may be helpful, do so.

I surely don't want to be travelling with all of the cash I need on hand for my week long vacation. Especially considering the Purser's desk onboard will cash Traveller's Checks for no charge. And if they get lost or stolen, I still get my cash back...if you lose cash, you're just S.O.L. Makes sense to me.

I'm with everyone else on that packing list (and all the others that are circulating here on CC)...I'm a "bring it just in case" person and still only bring 3% of that list.
