We rented a car from a car rental place at the airport. I can't remember the rental company name, but we made the arrangements over the internet. When we arrived, we went to the information kiosk and they called the car rental company who sent a van to pick us up. After a short ride to the airport, we got our rental and a map and drove to Rum Point. It was welll worth the trip. The beach is gorgeous and uncrowded with a bar and food. They had lots of rental equipment too. Enjoy!!!!!

We did the same and loved the drive. We went to Rum Point but found it a bit crowded for our taste - it was not nearly as crowded as 7 mile beach. So we kept driving and looking around and found a private beach with beautiful white sand, fantastic water and totally private - we were the only ones there.

Additionally, there are beaches along the main road that goes around the island that you can stop and enjoy - although there are no amenities.

I think we paid about $50 for the cheapest car with some insurance (other insurance was covered by Visa). If you get an international driver's license you do not need to pay the driving permit fee of about $9 - we did.
