Capri on our own

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am thinking of visiting Capri but would prefer to do it without a tour. Is it easy to get to blue grotto/green grotto and the town by public transport?

Thanks

Kelly

You can, I believe, get boats from Marina Grande (where the ferries come in) to the Blue Grotto. I'm not sure about the Green Grotto, but the best one is definitely the Blue Grotto - that's the one where you transfer to the small boats to go into the grotto itself.

My own view is that it is best to do this by boat - we chartered a beautiful speedboat from the Capri Palace, but there is a much cheaper alternative available on the following link.

Getting up to Capri Town is easy on the funicular, bus or open top taxi. The latter two methods will allow you to continue to Anacapri. I'd do it by taxi - it's great fun.

From Anacapri you can get the chairlift to Monte Solaro.

Capri is a wonderful place - and it is even better if you manage to stay there as the best time of day is after the day trippers have left....

(My wife and I had our honeymoon at the Capri Palace, so we do love the place.....)

Thanks for some really useful info. My wife and I plan to take the Hydrofoil from Naples to Capri, this August.

I see you have made over 5000 posts, so you're a real veteran!
