Makaylala Posted February 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2008 My family and I will be taking a Princess cruise out of San Juan in March. I am looking for restaurant referral's for Grenada as well as St. Thomas, St. Kitts, San Juan, Bonaire and Aruba. We would like to experience the local, or Caribbean cusine. Looking for good food at moderate prices. Nothing to Americanized or touristy. Thanks for any referral's or advise you can give.
Lsimon Posted February 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2008 We spent the day last year at the Aquarium restaurant on Magazine beach. Hanging out on beach chairs in front of the restaurant area. It is a pretty beach, relatively quiet. The restaurant is open air. It was very laid back - don't expect fast service. Some of our cruise mates who were on a tour of the island were brought there for lunch and a short beach stop while we were there. We were after fresh seafood as we've found the fresh island seafood beats the frozen fish they serve at dinner on the ship. We had a fish sandwich - catch of the day, and it had a generous grilled swordfish steak on it. Swordfish isn't our favorite but what had there was fantastic. Freshness makes a big difference. Don't recall much of the rest of the menu. http://www.aquarium-grenada.com/index.htm
kendon Posted March 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2008 About two blocks in from the dock is a restaurant called Marvelous Marva's. It is JUST before the steep hill, on the left, past the market stalls. They are so nice and friendly and serve local specialties.
