taegan Posted February 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2008 We have booked a private 1/2 day tour to stingray city and snorkel on a J-22 sailboat captianed by John Michael. Has anyone done this or anything similar?
hurlz Posted February 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2008 We actually just went out with John Michael on his J22 sailboat this past week with out 2 friends. I highly recommend it!!! The cost was $400 total (see http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/SnorkelingSailingBeach.htm) but split among the 4 of us it was not too bad. If you can afford this, it is totally worth the money! The captain is a local (John Michael) and is very nice. It is a mid-sized non-motorized sailboat that can fit 5 but is very relaxing. I believe he also has a power boat you can rent that hold more but we loved the sail boat. He picked us up near the ship dock around 11:30 and we sailed until 6 PM. We went to stingray city (he taught us how to feed the rays and supplied the squid), and one of his favorite snorkeling spots where no one else was and there was beautiful coral, and then to starfish beach which is gorgeous! He does not give booze or lunch so we just brought the latter along with us and ate it on a remote beach. Highly recommended!!!!

luvmy2doxs Posted February 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2008 We used John Michael too and just loved it. We took his power boat out since we had a group of 6. It is well worth the full day excursion! We did stingray city, snorkeling at the reef, Rum Point and Starfish Beach.
CoughEQueen Posted February 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2008 We were with John Michael (JM) just 2 weeks ago, Feb 7, on his power boat. He was great! Well worth the extra $. We went to Sting Ray City, JM's favorite snorkel spot and then to check out the starfish. The starfish are huge and the beach was beautiful...the sand has a pink hue. Very highly reccommended! nybumpkin Posted February 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 27, 2008 We just returned from our cruise, having booked John Michael's 26 ft. Boston Whaler for the 3-hour tour. We had a great time! We were at Stingray City before most of the large excursions arrived; we were able to feed the stingrays and interact with them much more than the folks on the ship's tour could. We then went to a reef to snorkel, then to Starfish Beach. Our younger two sons (11 and 8) didn't want to snorkel, so John Michael brought up some conch to show them, then at Starfish Beach taught them how to handle the starfish. I'd love to go back and book a full day!

chasholly Posted February 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Does he have a direct website without going through island marketing?
