Portofino on Voyager - which night?

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on Voyager next Sunday, February 24, on the Cozumel - Roatan - Progresso itinerary.

We want to do Portofino one night, but don't know which night is best for missing dinner in the dining room.

We don't want to miss lobster night! And I always enjoy the baked Alaska night.

Has anyone been on this itinerary that can help me with this?

Also, is Portofino worth the extra charge? I think I read somewhere that it is a 9 course meal. Is that right?

We had dinner one night in the Normandie restaurant onboard the Celebrity Summit in Alaska, and that was probably one of the best meals I have ever had, so I would like to do a speciality restaurant again.

Thanks so much for your help!

I think we went our last night or second to last. We based our decission on what our days were like, and not dining room meals, so I can't help you on that one. But, I wasn't sure if it would be worth the extra charge either, and I'm happy to say, it was great! We got a table right by a window and just took our time eating, enjoying the meal. From now on I hope to go back to Portifino every cruise. One recommendation--get the dessert tray--it's awesome!

We were on the Voyager January 13, 2008. We had a wonderful time, especially since it was my birthday week. We ate at Portofino on Wednesday January 16. It was the best. The waiters were wonderful and after we ate all the waiters including the head waiter brought me a small birthday cake. They even wrote in chocolate Happy Birthday Emily on the plate. They did not sing Happy Birthday to me because they said they did not want to embrassed me. But they all wished me a happy birthday.

I was glad they did not sing.

We ate at Portofino on Monday formal night only because it was the only night available for a table of two when we made reservations. Apparently the tables for two get snatched up quickly. The night we were there all of the tables for two were occupied and almost all of the large tables were empty.

It is definitely worth the $20 per person. The filet was great and the desserts are awesome. The bread basket by itself is almost worth it and the service is outstanding. The portions seemed much larger than in the dining room so it is very easy to overeat if you order appertizers, salads, entrees and dessert. Yum!
