Any info on Valor?

My fiancee and I are thinking about taking a cruise in October on the Carnival Valor. :D Can anyone tell me anything about the ship and/or itinerary? We're thinking about the Eastern Caribbean going to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Does the Valor have a big screen up on the pool deck like the Freedom does? Any pics of Valor out there? We're probably going to get an inside cabin on the Riveria or Main Deck. Is there anywhere on those decks that we should avoid when picking a cabin?

Thanks in Advance!! :D

I just got off the ship on Sunday - my review is on the next page/ or look under Jilltoons - because I also wrote a list of the things showing on the new big screenon the Lido deck. It's wonderful! - I was on the Verandah deck - so can't help you with that cabin :)

We are going to be on the Valor this April and can hardly wait. I know the ship just got out of drydock and they did add the outdoor movie screen as well as miniature golf!!

Look for the review somewhere under this Carnival thread and you can read a review from someone who just got off the Valor...it will help you a lot!!

The Valor is an awesome ship. Sailed her in Nov of 2007 and will be back on this November. One of Carnival's newer and bigger boats. The theme of the ship is "heros", which I found to be pleasant. Kinda has a patriotic feel to it. The ship is very clean and the crew was awesome in '07. There is a screen on the Lido now. I have done the eastern before, but we stopped in San Juan instead of the Bahamas. St. Thomas and St. Maarten are beautiful islands with lots to do. As far as the room is concerned, I have had an inside on the main but never riviera. There are no rooms to avoid that I know of. Personally, I would take a cabin on the main because the riviera is right above the crew deck and there might be noise. Again, that's not from personal experience. All in all the Valor is awesome! Can't wait to go back in November.

It sounds amazing!! I was on the Valor's sister ship Freedom in December/January so I know all about the movie screen on Lido Deck. :D The decor has me a bit worried as my fiancee is very patriotic but we happen to be Canadian so I kinda wonder what he'd think or even worse say when walking on to a ship that's decorated like the American Flag. He might :o me (and/or insult and/or offend someone) but I think I could talk him into keeping his mouth shut!! I however, think it looks so neat and I just love what I've seen of it in pictures (especialy the mosaic in the Lido Buffett and the Atrium - way cool)!! :D I will definatly take your advice and book a cabin on Main Deck. Thanks!!!! :D

Loved the Valor, and especially loved the Eastern Caribbean itinerary. We did this itinerary two cruises in a row!

There is a great post somewhere by Wennfred with tons of pictures of the Valor. It's been a while since I've seen it, but it should be out there somewhere. Fred takes great pictures, and he gets pictures of everything. You'll get hungry looking at the pictures of the Chocolate Buffet! :p

I've been on Valor twice....Eastern and Western. I really like the ship. Both were good cruises for different reasons.

As far as cabin selection, I'd go to Carnival's website and get a cabin sandwiched between two decks of nothing but other cabins. Less chance of noise you might not want to hear. But if you stay out late, it probably would not be a problem.

Now about the theme...

There's a room called John Paul Jones. Apperently he was Scotsman, who joined the British Navy.

Then there's the Ivanhoe Theatre. Ivanhoe is a novel, set in 12th century England, written by Sir Walter Scott, another Scotsman.

There's the Iliad Library. The Iliad is a Greek poem written by, of course, a Greek.

Winston's Cigar Bar. Winston was the Prime Minister of England.

Then there's King Boulevard. I don't recall any American kings.

Shogun Casino....I believe that would be a reference to the Chinese.

The Paris Hot disco would be a reference to France.

The Argonaut Bar.....another Greek reference.

Prometheus Pool.....more from Greece.

Just curious....does your fiancee just dislike anything American, or just anything non-Canadian???

One of the things I like about cruising is that you'll meet people from many nationalities. That's what makes it so fun and interesting!!!

Thanks so much!! :D Especialy the part about the theme!! My fiancee doesn't dislike other nationalities, he's just very patriotic about Canada and likes to speak his mind about other countries (not always complimentry). :( I also like meeting people from other countries as does he. It's just that sometimes, he says things he shouldn't. :(

Hey Jilltoons - What was your experience on the Verandah deck? Two of my family members are staying on the aft cabins - on the ends and We are going to be under the pool..Do you know about the noise level?

Thanks!!

I must admit to being closer to the bow of the ship and so my cabin was very very quiet. I did talk to some friends who were farther aft - and they also loved their cabin. The location is fabulous!!!!!! You are so close to the action and that is very very nice.

Hi again Jilltoons -

So, you didn't hear any complaints about chairs scraping above rooms?

That's my only concern, I really like the location. Close to the stairs so I can get from deck to deck - and close enough to the action that it's an easy crawl home.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Thank you to everyone for the great information on the Valor. I especially want to thank Avril for all of the links. We were wondering about the laundry facilitys and all. My husband and I will be sailing on her in October for our anniversary.

Our first cruise on Carnival was on the Sensation...... Nuff Said

From all of the posts and pictures, we are so excited to see her!

Thank you again, and we will be coming back to see what other things are to be said about her!

We did the last cruise in january before the valor went into dry dock. We had an inside cabin rivieria deck cabin 1350 mid ship forward, It was located right near the elevators, no noise from above or below. It was nice because you took the elevator right up to 13 and you were right on the sun deck, where we spent a Lot of time! Nice ship had a great time. It does get a little confusing because sometimes you "couldn't get there from here" . Never really got the ship figured out and was on it for a week! There didn't seem to be one floor that you could walk from one end of the ship to the other without going through either the Lincoln or Washington dining room. Didn't really matter though still had a great time.
