Celebritizing of the Century Class

Captain Rhone

Recommended Posts

I've noticed while browsing the web that Celebrity have been working on adding "Celebrity" to the Century, Galaxy, and Mercury. The Century in the most recent photo that I've seen, only has "Century" painted in white. The Galaxy, however has the whole "Celebrity GALAXY" painted up front as well as on the stern. The Mercury is nameless except I think they may have painted it on the stern.

Any thoughts?

A picture from our 2/14 sailing shows a large "CENTURY" with a much smaller CENTURY forward of that, with a MUCH smaller "CELEBRITY" in front of it...

Sorry for the HUGE photo here, but it's the only way to make out "CELEBRITY"!

I wonder what all this renaming is about? Are the ships being reflagged or is this an attempt to keep the ships from being confused with other lines' ships, as the names get re-used?

Hi Captain Rhone !

I was told a while ago, this is a very slight rebranding project. Celebrity wants to get their name out into the mainstream as much as possible. Eventually, every ship will have the Celebrity name in front of the Ship's name. They already have it planned for Solstice.

Carnival started doing this a while ago, and I expect every cruiseline to do this in the near future. It's more free advertising for them.
