pirate cruise question

We pirated last June and will again in 3 weeks!:) Last year we saw families will all ages of kids. After the pirates make the littler (compared to yours) kids swab the deck and take the pirate oath, they "capture" some of the "older" people. That was me and another girl (maybe late teens or college-age) and they tied us up and put a loose rope on us and dumped cold water and yelled at us. It actually was fun and my DD8 and DH loved seeing me "suffer."

 

The swimming is fun and your 16 year old might like walking the plank (like a high dive) or even jumping from the rail at the back of the ship like my DH did.

 

You'll have as much fun as you want! Join in or just sit and watch the rest of the characters--remember its only a 2 hour tour (for us it was).

I booked my cruise late and am unable to book this excursion because I sail on Saturday. Are there any other companys that offer this excursion outside of Carnival?

As far as I know this excursion is only offered through the cruise ship as they have a special time for cruise ship passengers.

We went on the Pirate Encounter July 2007. At that time my oldest son was 15. There were lots of young people on this excursion, so your son will not feel out of place.

You can book this excursion through your cruise ship as the Cayman Pirate Encounter has a special tour time for cruise ship passengers. With Carnival this excursion runs from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and includes a mock attack on the cruise ship. If you would book independently, the tour is only available on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Also, the privately arranged excursion starts at 2:00 pm. and ends at 4:00 pm. If your ship leaves early in the afternoon this would cause a problem!
