We went to Coral Sands Beach Resort last week and it was wonderful. I read about it on Cruise Critic, and we made arrangements to meet Chris at the village in Belize. We had a group of 44 adults and children. They met us with a nice new modern boat and took us to the island. It was beautiful. Half of our group went snorkling while the rest of us stayed and enjoyed the beach. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Everything is new and beautiful. We had a lunch of Barbeque Chicken, rice and beans and watermelon. It was very good. I would recommend this trip to everyone. I would definitely take advantage of this before they get with the cruise lines, and it gets crowded and expensive.

Pammyj50:
How did the children in your group like the excursion? I've heard the beach is coral rather than the more traditional sand - was that a problem for the little ones? We're traveling with a 2 and 5 year old. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The person we booked through was named Fadila. Chris was the resort manager. The children all seemed to have a good time. They mostly played along the shore and collected shells. You definitely will need some type of sandals or water shoes. You can walk out a short way, but there is alot of coral and it does hurt if you don't have shoes on. The water gets deep pretty fast. They do have rafts that you can use at no charge. They are the really nice blue ones.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it but there was no charge for the children. That was great for our group because there were several families. There is also nice shaded areas so that you can get the children out of the sun if you need to. All in all it really is a nice day at the beach. Something for everyone but definitely not crowded. We were the only ones there that day. There are absolutely beautiful palm trees on the island. Looks like a tropical paradise. There was someone there to take care of our every need.

Oh yes, if you go on the snorkling trip they have an EMT along with you. They are really trying to make this a wonderful place.

Further information. It does not help me but maybe someone else. Scroll down to the end to see my original questions.

Susan:
No to the first question. The marketing address is for the resort managers
to respond, and currently we are re-organizing so you may not get a answer
from them.

Your time in Belize is a bit unsual, I did not thing any ships arrived at
1pm. Usually at 7am to 5pm.
We currently have contracts with Norwegian Cruise Lines, with direct
transportation from the ship to Coral Sands Beach Resort. Other visitors
are transported from the Tourist Village directly to Coral Sands, and thats
how you would get to us. But if you arrival time is accurate, it would not
be possible for you to visit the island, because there are no 1/2 day tours
currently available.
Issue #2 Jan. 10 is a Monday, and currently Coral Sands is only open on Wed.
& Thur.

For your time frame, touring the City of Belize (tourist villiage) would be
your only other option, and having a drink at the Radison Hotel, or The
Princess Hotel and Casino. A boat ride to Caye Cauker maybe streaching it,
but would be fun.

We are sailing on NCL Sun. I do understand enough that NCL passengers can book Coral Sands through NCL only (not on your own). This doesn't seem so bad, because I like the idea of being picked up from the ship since we are traveling with our 5 year old son.

The part I am confused about is what is included through the NCL shore excursion. We recently received our docs and the NCL book describing the shore excursions even contradicts itself on this one.

For "Belizean Beach Day", the end of the paragraph says that BBQ lunch is available at an additional cost. Immediately below the paragraph it says, "Note: this excursion includes snorkel equipment and lunch".

And based on what I have read on this thread, it seems that other NCL passegers were told that lunch and snorkel equipment was not included. I find it hard to believe that you can book this directly through Coral Sands for $47 and lunch is included but for $55 through NCL lunch is not included. Also, I was disappointed to see that children under 12 are free if you book directly (and I assume get lunch), but are $39 through NCL and no lunch??

Is there anyone who has recently visited Coral Sands through NCL that knows that latest??

Thanks!!!!

We are going to be in Belize in March on Elation. In doing some investigation about snorkeling and beach time I decided to check out Belize Rays. They responded saying they have one snorkeling tour that takes you to Coral Sands Beach Resort and then out to snorkel. I am awaiting more information but they did give a web site for Coral Sands. www.coralsandsbelize.com The web site looks pretty good. Has anybody done this tour through Belize Rays? They said $45 pp
We went to coral sands on 9/9 and it was awsome. The food was excellent and the bar was really cool everything there is thatch so it feel like you in a little village on a deserted island. The beach was wonderful and because they just opened we had the run of the place so it was great. Two thumbs up for Coral sands beach resort....:D
Do you have any pictures of Coral Sands? I am looking for a nice beach. I have been to Caye Caulker and although it is such a uite, quaint little town it's just a Caye and not so much a beach. I wonder how Coral Sands is in comparrison to Caye Caulker.
My DH and I are hoping to go with Belize Rays this month. They're a fairly new outfit but I've read excellent reviews about them so far and their boat looks fabulous.
We used them in APril and they were wonderful... but unfortunately they are off the radar and we believe they went out of business....

They are still listed as a shore excursion through NCL - has anyone been there lately?? I've been to San Pedro but that tour is $99 a person (Shark Ray Alley). Love to know any recent info! How was the snorkeling they take you on? Thank you! - by the way the website didnt' work - did they have a dive shop there for the snorkel gear - maybe rent scuba gear? Debbie
