Bobug Posted February 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2008 After 7 cruises on Princess & 2 on RCCL our group is trying Carnival. We are doing a 7 day Eastern & Western back to back....did we pick a good ship? I have a few questions about the Valor.... Do they have laundry rooms with irons to use? Is there a size difference in an inside & an OV room...if so...how much? If we stay with the Inside where is the best place? We had a inside room on one of our Princess cruises that was at the very back....we could walk out our door & take 6 or 7 steps & be on a back deck that we had almost to ourselves....that is the kind of thing I am looking for. Any not to be missed things/places you recommend? Do you have to ask for robes for an inside room? Does this ship have the Fish & Chips that I have read about? What other specialities? I have read that the ship just came out of drydock from getting the bigscreen among other things? Thanks for any help & happy sailing.
binkey36 Posted February 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2008 We are also doing a b2b on the Valor (in April). I was on the ship two years ago and had to fly home early. I think it is a great ship for a b2b. The ocean view and inside cabins USED to be the same size. I don't think that has changed after checking out the various websites regarding cabins sizes etc. We were in a Cat 12 the last time we were on the Valor, so I do not have "personal" experience as to the size of the rooms other than the 185 sq ft shown on the website. Having sailed RCCL, Princess etc I can say that Carnival and RCCL are pretty much the same. You should have a very enjoyable experience. All cabins have robes to my knowledge. The ship does have a Fish & Chips area and a Sushi bar. We enjoyed the wine bar, kareoke (sp), piano bar, casino and the shows. There was a piano player right outside of the casino who was great. It has been two years, but my husband and I were so impressed that we decided to do our b2b on the Valor. I still love the Spirit class ships, but the Valor was great. 2Ports Posted February 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2008 After 7 cruises on Princess & 2 on RCCL our group is trying Carnival. We are doing a 7 day Eastern & Western back to back....did we pick a good ship? Yep. I have a few questions about the Valor.... Do they have laundry rooms with irons to use? Yes - there's a laundry room with washers & dryers ($2/load wash, $2 dry - holds 2 washer loads) & irons & ironing boards (fre) on all passenger decks, about midships on the starboard side Is there a size difference in an inside & an OV room...if so...how much? Not so's you'd notice. If we stay with the Inside where is the best place? We had a inside room on one of our Princess cruises that was at the very back....we could walk out our door & take 6 or 7 steps & be on a back deck that we had almost to ourselves....that is the kind of thing I am looking for. Near the stern is great for accessing the Washington dining room and the lido - near the bow for decks. Any not to be missed things/places you recommend? Sushi bar, Fish & chips, Asian station, Deli, Goat cheese & Wild Mushroom pizza, watching sailaway from the stern (adults only) hot tubs. Do you have to ask for robes for an inside room? No. Does this ship have the Fish & Chips that I have read about? Yes. What other specialities? They just added "Mongolian" eatery - not sure where. I have read that the ship just came out of drydock from getting the bigscreen among other things? Indeed it did. Thanks for any help & happy sailing. You're welcome. :D

Bobug Posted February 24, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted February 24, 2008 You're welcome. :D I asked the question about any size difference between the inside & OV because when I look at the pics of the rooms on the Carnival website it looks like there is an area that has a sofa/couch in the OV room but the inside room pic doesn't show that....do they both have this area? Sounds like you had a great cruise....we have awhile before we go but it is always fun to hear of others experiences & ideas. Anyone else have anything to add? Happy Cruising The square footage for OV and inside are the same, but the setup is different, with the OV the beds are set up more like a hotel, and the insides have the beds against each wall, and I don't think that the insides have the sofa, some may, but according to the pictures they don't. We will find out first hand in August.
cruiseaholic21 Posted February 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2008 there is a difference in size between Inside and ocean view. we had both (across the hall from one another) and the ovenview was a little bigger, more room to roam.
