Cruisin'Trooper Posted February 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2008 We are planning on taking our 2 month old on a short cruise with RCCL since they have no age limit. We are not planning on getting off the ship with a baby that young, dancing the night away, or being in the sun, just a relaxing week long vacation with a baby that is a great sleeper and eater. Mom and dad just want to watch the water go by from the balcony and relax :) . Since we do not have an official birth certificate or passport yet, does anyone have experience with using the hospital birth certificate to board? The RCCL web site says that this is acceptable, just wondering who has used it. THANKS!
crusinmama06 Posted February 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2008 OK under normal circumstances, NO that hospital birth certificate is not acceptable. But if the child is a "newborn" then it is acceptable. I would get confirmation from RCCL what THEY consider newborn. And just know that you could call RCCL 10 times and get 10 different answers. Here is what the RCCL site says In the absence of a passport, a birth certificate (original or certified copy), plus laminated picture ID card issued by a federal, state, or local government agency is required. Note: Baptismal papers and hospital certificates of birth (except for new borns) are not acceptable
sharktums Posted February 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2008 You should spend a little extra money and use one of the 'court service agencies' to get your birth certificate expedited. We travel a lot and had our daughters birth certificate by six weeks (in Los Angeles where it normally takes a lot longer), Social Security card a week later, and Passport three weeks after that! It just seems a lot easier to get the correct paperwork, then have to talk to supervisors, fax stuff in, etc.
