First Time Cruiser Valor E. Carib or Pride Mex Riv?? May 18

My wife and I will celebrate our 20th Anniversary this summer and will take our first cruise. We are trying to decide between the Eastern Carribean on the Valor or the Mexican Riviera on the Pride. Both depart on the 18th of May. Airfare is only $250 more to Miami than to LAX. What would you suggest and why?

Being from Washington State - we chose the Caribbean. The islands, the water - just seemed to be what we visioned for our first cruise. Where do you live?

I think the Caribbean - more magical I think. Seems so special for your 20th Anniversary. We loved our Eastern Caribbean trip on the Valor - just got back last week. It truly was magical.

My first cruise was on the Pride to the Mexican Riviera. We loved the Pride, and had tons of fun in the Mex. Riv. ports.

 

Our second cruise was on the Miracle to the Western Caribbean. It was fantastic! The water is a brighter, more intense blue and the beaches are more white sand beaches. There are also a lot more fish to see in the Caribbean, if you happen to enjoy snorkeling. And, the water is warmer.

 

I'll be on the Valor doing the Eastern Caribbean itinerary in less than a month!

 

While I really enjoyed the Mexican Riviera, and loved the Pride, I think for an anniversary cruise I would go with the Valor and the Caribbean.

I'd take the E Caribbean over the Mexican Riviera any day of the week. I've done the Mex R. twice... only because I didn't have to pay air fare to get to Long Beach, CA.

I would go eastern carb. the islands are so nice . I used to love mexico until i went to saint thomas. last year cruised back on western and was disappoined . sorry about typing

Do the Valor....Eastern...or its Western Caribbean Cruise either one....but I'd do that over the Mexican Riveria! Not that ANY of them are bad. But I'd do the Caribbean first!

If you don't mind the extra flying time, go to the caribbean. It is pretty easy to go to the Riveria, but the caribbean may not always be accessible to you as easily. The caribbean water is the prettiest I have ever seen. The ports were really nice as well. PLUS if your wife likes jewelry, the caribbean is the place to buy it! Nice anniversary surprise!

Regarding the Mexican Riviera, you need to consider that at that time of the year, you may not want to spend much time by the pool on the first and last sea days since it can be quite cool. You don't really get warm until you get towards the Tropic of Cancer.

Have you considered checking airfare into Fort Lauderdale? We were on the Valor Eastern itinerary last year and would do again tomorrow. Absolutely wonderful ship and cruise!
