Directions from airport to OSJ?

Can anyone provide directions from the Luiz Manoz Airport (?) to Old San Juan - the main bar area - Calle Fortaleza? Does anyone know of a relatively safe place to leave our rental car? What about directions from OSJ to El Yunque?

Thanks,

Heather

Yup-

From the airport- get onto RT 26 West- going toward San Juan/Isla Verde. Continue on RT 26 and eventually you cross a bridge and you are on the island of OSJ.

You will want to park the car. I always use to parking decks by the bay (Dona Fela)- cheap and safe.

To get there- once on the bridge- move 2 lanes to the left (To Ave Fernandez Juncos). You want to go under an overpass and then continue straight ( Don't go toward the Hilton or Normandy and don't turn left toward the Convention Center). This will take you through an ugly section of town (by the docks). But then you come to the Bay and cruise ship piers. Turn right at the corner by the bus station, then left when the road T's. The parking decks are on the left about 1 block up. Dona Fela is the second one you come to, the first one is fine too.

Once you get out of the parking deck- walk up the road (Calle Recinto Sur) to the right toward Calle Fortaleza. (see map)

For directions to El Yunque- Take RT 26 East to RT 66 East until it intersects at RT 3 (at Belz factory outlets). Turn right on RT 3. Take that for about 15 minutes. You will eventually turn right at RT 191, or if you miss that little sign, turn right at the corner where you see the BIG sign for Rio Mar and the Rain forest (I think it is rt 968) . Follow that road until RT 191- turn left and go up to the rainforest.
