Seafood or Steakhouse

Recommended Posts

Hi:

Can anyone recommend a good seafood or steakhouse restaurant near the Hyall Regency? We will be there in mid September for the Serenade Of The Seas repositioning and would like to know of any good restaurants within walking distance. Also, a place where we can pick up soda and water to take on board. Thanks for your help.

There used to be a very good seafood restaurant right in the Hyatt Regency but I haven’t been there for a few years. Just south on Burrard St. from the hotel there is Joe Fortes which is a Vancouver favourite, steak, chops, seafood menu. Pure steak houses, Hys on Hornby St a Vancouver landmark for 50 years or more and Gothams (actually owned by Hys) a very high ended restaurant on Seymour both not more than 5 or 6 blocks from the Hyatt and a very safe walk. Other thoughts would be the Five Sails at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Canada Place and Aqua Riva in Granville Sqare adjacent Canda Place both will have great views of the Harbour and the North Shore Mountains and a 3 to 5 block from the hotel. There are a ton of eateries on Robson Street which is 2 blocks to the south on Burrard.

Water and sodas, well the Hyatt sits over Royal Centre which is a non anchored shopping mall, there used to be a drug store in it otherwise I’d walk over to London Drugs at Georgia & Granville, about a 3 block walk.

You are pretty much centre ice in Vancouver at the Hyatt Regency....enjoy!

Don't forget the Keg across the street from Joe Fortes and there is a Rexall drug store now in the Royal Centre mall beneath the Hyatt - Joe Fortes is around the corner on Thurlow at Alberni .

Your problem may be selecting where you want to eat as the area around where the Hyatt sits in restaurant row - and with Vancouver being such a multi-cultural city just about every type of food is available.

Cheers

Dennis
