Naples/Mykonos on our own??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

We will be in Naples and Mykonos for 1 day each and wondering how close the dock is to town and if it is doable for us to be on our own? We are booked on tours in Turkey and Egypt and thought Naples and Mykonos would be doable on our own.

Any places of interest that you would recommend for each?

Greatly appreciate any information!!

Thanks in advance.

I like this website, lots of useful info. He is really indepth, but in plain English and lots of nice photos too. And he covers all the ports with the menu down the left hand side.

And likewise I plan to do Naples and Mykonos on our own. Actually I plan to do all the ports on our own, except Santorini and Kusadasi. I plan to book cruiseline excursions for these two ports. Santorini to avoid the cable car, and Kusadasi for safety & convenience.

Have a great trip.

Naples,

the ship is in the main part of the city,Hyrafoils and boats leave from here to Capri,Sorrento Positano & Almafi,or take a bus or train to Pompei, all easily done on your own,

Useful web sites for these excursions.

Mykonos,

you can see the town from the pier, local buses run from here, interesting town to walk around with its narrow street, blue and white buildings and windmills,Film Shirley Valentine ,this is the location

Thank you! agabbymama, we are on the Grand just before you going to Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt. Our first Princess cruise and all countries except Italy will be the first.

Missus Makken, thanks for the info on amalfi etc. We have been there before so think we will sit put in Naples for the day. Sounds like we can go in the morning and do a "spa" treatment in the afternoon (less expensive while in port too!).

Thanks again,

Mykonos is a small island and easliy doable on your own. The town is pretty to walk around in, do a little shopping, have a frappe...

If you want to go further afield to a beach, there are inexpensive public buses which run regularly. Platis giallos is a more relaxing beach, Paradise and Super Paradise are a little more energetic with music and dancing.
