richstan Posted March 15, 2008 #77 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Doris Roberts and Lauren Bacall were on 2 different cruises. Both actresses were with their families kept a low profile and I hoped enjoyed their privacy.
JackNJillCruz Posted March 15, 2008 #78 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Jack went to a late show one night after dinner and saw 'Charo' singing and playing the guitar on our Spirit - Panama Canal cruise. He couldn't get me out of the casino, so I missed it. :p
babyher Posted March 15, 2008 #79 Share Posted March 15, 2008 My brother-in-law used to be the head accountant for Motown Records before retiring and I was constantly amazed how many folks were (are) seriously star struck, as though these peoples lives have anything to do with ours. Admittedly I am out of the loop, but what is so funny about the notion of Jarod having aids? Somebody posted this previously and I don't get the humor. My aunt was a secretary to an entertainment lawyer/agent in NYC for 30 years. Just about everyday the biggest stars either came into the office or called. She was the same way , she didn't see what the big deal people make over these celebs was all about. One thing she always used to say was "usually" The bigger they are , the nicer they are. These little dime a dozen sitcom stars and semi names walk in like who they are , but your big big names are usually very nice and pleasent. She actually dealt with Barbra Streisand on several occasions and said she was always very pleasent to deal with.

dianeholly Posted March 15, 2008 #81 Share Posted March 15, 2008 You mean that wasn't Stevie Wonder on the Valor the week after Thanksgiving?? I have told numerous people that he was on the ship and performed one song for us. The band played, he sang, cameras were flashing everywhere...... It would have never crossed my mind that it wasn't him.... I guess I am a bit disppointed; however, I will now get a good laugh out of it. Yep, you and I were on the same ship after Thanksgiving. I was disappointed to find out it wasn't Stevie, but other cruisers on the ship had seen this "skit" before. I was still a believer -- until I questioned asst. cruise director Becca (remember her?!). babyher Posted March 15, 2008 #83 Share Posted March 15, 2008 I believe the original poster modified his comment to indicate that he meant "aides" or "assistants." Its an easy mistake to make once in a department store with my wife we were walking through the cosmetics counter and I commented on the counter that sells Bobbi Brown cosmetics . I figured thats what Whitmey Houston uses to cover up the bruises when her husbnad smacks her around. Who knew it was a different Bobby Brown? its tough not being in the loop
Ltvscout Posted March 15, 2008 #84 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Not ON our cruise but at Tampa Airport AFTER the 3/2/08 Legend cruise, Coach Dick Vermeil (Phil-St Louis-KC) stood behind me in the TSA line. He was traveling with his wife and was very nice - I'm a Patriot's fan and we talked football and cruising. Imposed on him for a photo on my cell phone and he was very nice about taking it with me. :D We had something similar. On our flight down to FLL for our Jewel cruise last year we had to fly through and switch planes in Kansas City. While waiting in the terminal my wife noticed Kansas City Chiefs Coach Herm Edwards and his wife sitting behind us. My son went and got his autograph. FrannyK Posted March 15, 2008 #85 Share Posted March 15, 2008 When leaving out of Philly airport on cruise morning, my husband left his sunglasses/case behind in the security bucket at security checkpoint. Who ran after us and caught up w/us at our gate but Jeramiah Trotter (of the Philadelphia Eagles at the time). WOW were we shocked! My DH was speechless. JT said he was a few people behind us in the security line and rather than have the elderly security guard try to catch up to us, he volunteered! What a great guy. :)

sixy-six Posted March 15, 2008 #88 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Last year we were on a RCL cruise with the man that owns the Men's Wearhouse stores - I don't know his name but I recognized him from the commercials and pictures. dianeholly Posted March 16, 2008 #90 Share Posted March 16, 2008 Wasn't it a great cruise!! Yes, dec2007w3boys, it was a great cruise. And I see that we continue to have similar tastes, as I will be hopping on the Miracle on November 29 -- just as you're getting off! (Oops...I just took another look and saw that you're on the Miracle in November 2009, not 2008. So I'll be on it a year earlier -- but we still clearly have the same great taste!) want2cruiseagain Posted September 4, 2008 #94 Share Posted September 4, 2008 My husband became a celebrity on our NCL cruise! He was in one of the 70's games in the disco and it ended up on the CC TV. Everyone on the ship would call him "John Travolta"! A little girl on our last excursion recognized him in the bus. "I know you, you were on TV!":D My DH meets celebrities all the time. His a flight attendant. Me, highlight of my 50th birthday, meeting Steven Tyler from Aerosmith! He rocks! PittsburghGirlee Posted September 4, 2008 #95 Share Posted September 4, 2008 We were on the Fantasy in 1998 and Phillip Van Atter from the OJ Simpson Trial was on our ship with his wife. My husband spotted him as he is a police officer that followed the trial diligently. However, I was the one to approach them in case they were not friendly:eek: . This is always my job as I am a people person. It turns out that they were great people, as most are, and we sat and bs'd with them for about 1/2 an hour. Got our pics taken and said hello when we saw each other through out the cruise. I still have the photo as one of our keepsakes.:D :D
CEWayfarer Posted September 4, 2008 #96 Share Posted September 4, 2008 My DH looks like he 'might' be someone famous (an aging 70's rocker; a look he has cultivated since the 70's and stuck with!). Everywhere we go, people ask him 'who' he is. When he tells them he's 'nobody', they are even more sure he's somebody famous and just being evasive! He always has people come up to him and ask to take photos with him. Once, a kid came up and asked for his autograph and when he told him truthfully that he wasn't a celebrity, the kid started to CRY and his mom was furious. Now, he just smiles for the camera and signs the autographs. It's really amusing, but kind of bizarre

kryos Posted September 4, 2008 #99 Share Posted September 4, 2008 Never been on a cruise with a celebrity, but I will in a couple of weeks. I'm going on the Paradise and attending a Battlestar Galactica 30th Anniversary Fan's Convention while onboard. We'll have Richard Hatch, Terry Carter, and a whole bunch of the celebrities from the original show onboard. Supposedly they are very approachable and events are being planned that will let us "hang out" with them informally ... such as a shopping excursion with Sarah Rush in Catalina (I think her only line in the show was "launch when ready") and a "fumerallo party" with some of the cast (fumerallos are cigars in Galactica parlance). Should be an interesting time. Blue skies ... --rita
