bruce-r Posted March 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2008 Does anyone have any experience doing cold water diving in Victoria, BC?I do, but not while on a cruise. Any information you can give me regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Are you going to be stopping there while on a cruise? You in port time will determine your options or even if you will be able to dive. You can do a shore dive at Ogden Point with Odgen Point Dive Center There is some really neat stuff to see along the breakwater there. I had my best wolfeel encounter there. Wolf Eel Photos I'd strongly recommend a guide for diving BC as ALL the diving is tide dependent. There can be some serious currents during tidal exchange so most dives are done on slack tide. I can't recommend a dive boat charter operator, but that is what I'd want to do in order to dive Race Rocks or one of the artificial wrecks there. Check on ScubaBoard for more specific recommendations.
rochelle_s Posted March 17, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 17, 2008 Bruce, Thanks for the info....now I have a place to start in my search. I don't dive myself but my friend who will be travelling with me does. They are from New Zealand so it is much easier for me to search out the information. We do have a port stop there from 3:00 pm till 11:59 pm. I thought this might be too late in the day but you never know till you ask the questions and find out, which I am planning to do!:) Thanks again for pointing me in the direction I need to be going.
