macskakitty Posted March 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Here is the general information from the site, sorry, can't seem to find the exact details on buyins. Royal Poker Tournament From now until August 2008, all sailings will feature a Texas Hold 'em Poker qualifying tournament with a chance to win a cruise on Freedom of the Seas and play in the Final Royal Poker Tournament for a jackpot estimated at over $100,000! For more information, call (888) 561-2234 or email us at clubroyale@rccl.com. * Length of tournament may vary. Free cruise does not include airfare, gratuities, transfers, taxes or fees. Entrance into the tournament subject to number of entries. Tournament is not available on all ships. Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournaments A no-limit Texas hold 'em format that sees all the guests reaching the final table winning a cash prize. Spaces are limited for these tournaments, so sign up early to avoid disappointment. Schedules for tournaments vary, so check your Cruise Compass or the casino cashier on your ship for scheduled events.
hoosier78 Posted March 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2008 Is this just regular Texas Hold 'Em? I have read that there are tournaments on each ship. Is this different than the tournaments?
macskakitty Posted April 7, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2008 Ok, we are back. There is one cash game Holdem table in the casino. The blinds are 2/5, no limit. From what I heard, those at second seating at dinner had a tough time getting on to the table. Every time I went by, it was full, though my husband did play during the at sea day. As for the poker tournament, it is a $75 buy-in. Grand prize is a cruise and buy-in to a special tournament in December IF there are 49 players. With fewer than 49 players, it is a cash prize, top 4 places paid. Blind structures: 10 minute blinds starting at 25/50, rebuys allowed at fewer than 500 chips or for everyone at 40 minutes. The weird part is that you only start with 1000 in chips. The poker and blackjack tournaments are $20 buy-ins.
somechic Posted April 7, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2008 I hope to play some Texas hold-em on the Sovereign of the Seas. After the licence plate on my truck reads POKR GRL :D !! If there is not any Texas hold-em, I'll settle for 3 card poker. Trish
