Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted April 17, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2008 Does anybody have information on the new menus? I have (much to my families rolling of eyes) taken a photo of the menu each night while on the 4/6/08 sailing of the AOS. The food was really pretty good. I can definitely say the weakest menus were mid week with Wed or Thurs being the weakest. Weird how our second formal night was not that fancy of a dinner..so if you feel like getting dressed up perhaps Portofinos this night is a good choice. I will post menus soon as I can to webshots. They also tease me about my photos I take and then first to take camera away to look at them! I did weight watchers in 2003 and while I did eat on cruise basically "see food" taking the stairs all the time (except in heels) and all the shore walking I lost 1 pound! They offer the vitality (healthier option) selections marked with a funny symbol. They do have Splenda- just need to ask for it, I was told by Winjammer staff to stash some in my purse. I did find all pastry items wonderful and sugar-free items were honestly very good. First day there is a Key Lime Mouse in Windjammer I really liked. MiniMom57 Posted April 18, 2008 #17 Share Posted April 18, 2008 WOW....the menu on Adventure has changed dramatically since I was on her a year ago! The only one that I think is the same is the St. Maarten night. I noticed that every night there are more choices of plain pasta, steak, and fish, and they are listed right in the main menu.....they used to have those kind of choices listed separately, and not as many each night. I think the newer menus look GREAT, except that I would have a hard time choosing just one appetizer on a few of the nights!

No need to pick, really the appetizers are "small" just order more than one ~we did. We noted the menus had just come from the printers and in brand new leatherette folders, only day that hadn't arrived you can tell format is different. So based on taking money to print new menus I think these will be around a while. Suzy

Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted May 25, 2008 #20 Share Posted May 25, 2008 ok- based on my taste- first of all I am not much of a beef eater, however I can say my DH & DS were and never had a complaint about a beef dish. I also tried fish dishes for frist time and was not disappointed or disliked. First night- the appetizer Scallop Rissotto- if you like scallops or something that tastes like lobster I'd highly recommend, in fact could order multiple or as entree- skip risotto though- not worth calories- four scallops. One of favorites entree- Garlic tiger shrimp- not as big as expected and quantity 4- worth a double order if a hungry man. Other noteworthy but not sure what night each was offered: appetizers: scallop risotto- one of best, skip risotto order a second just f scallops spinach dip- nice change, like TGIF fruit dishes- all were good and opted for this vs. salads shrimp cocktail- had head waiter make it standing order for every night- (must request this special) fruit soups- good, but just ok- more like watered down, not that thick vidalia onion tart escargot- loved these in garlic sauce (6 pieces) entree: Mahi Mahi Tempura Overall favorite Shrimp Cocktail ordered 4 one night as entree Desert: Low fat angel food cake and strawberries- could tell homemade texture, not boxed!, very nice Raspberry Panna Cotta- hard to describe texture but very good. (I noticed many favorites were first night- not sure why though- although night T,W,Th were weakest selections and good night if want eat at Portofinos) Items I do not recommend: crab & shrimp & surimi appetizer- way too fishy same with hot & sour soup- too fishy taste Also note you will see warm melting chocolate cake or tasters choice dessert- nothing on this cruise came close to warm melting chocolate cake on Carnival :(

Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted May 25, 2008 #22 Share Posted May 25, 2008 We had late dinner, and twice we went down to Windjammer prior to dinner and scoped out a few menu items. They will not have same presentation on buffet, but many items are same as main dining room and good for viewing ahead of time.

Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted May 25, 2008 #24 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Don't be shy on ordering multiples of any item, or two different appetizers. Oh- bread basket- found the rolls on drier side, but anything that looks like a mini muffin (especially banana) those are worth piling up :D Steak- they have steak sauce and worcestershire sauce available. NOTE: Splenda- bring some to Windjammer if need it- for some reason they do not put it out, but can be requested. At formal dining table after second night request they had it regularly in dish. Mustard- son could not find "normal" mustard only dijon- so if anyone likes that kind only- better bring some packets.
