Carnival Festivale

I'm looking for any photos of the Carnival Festivale. This was my first cruise ship and there are scant number of photos out there. This ship was busting with character and the history is quite fascinating. I have developed a new interest in her and while she no longer survives the ambition remains. I have already searched the web and while I have found some good sites they are lacking in showings the common areas and few show the back pool and I have not found any that show the interior areas such as the shops, purser's lobby, library, or cimemas or other areas even the crew areas would be of interest [already have pictures of the engine room, and bridge]. If you have pictures of the ship inside or out I would like to see them. I would also like to find some pictures of her refurbishing when she was changed from the SA Vaal to the Festivale. I'm sure someone out there has some pictures in their personal collection that they are willing to share. Thanks

I sailed on the TSS Festival six times. And each time on the last night they would give you a water color print of the ship. Do you know haw many of those primts I have? Zero. The same amount as I have from my Seven TSS Mardi Gras cruises.

There are some items on Ebay. Just type in Carnival Cruise Lines and they pop up.

For the Festivale, postcards mainly...but there is a Christmas ornament that has about 20 minutes of bidding time left on it.

Hi LHP!!!

How are you doing? I should have been on here sooner -- I could have checked out that ornament -- I didn't get one on that ship -- didn't even get a magnet! You know, now that I typed that, that's not true. I did get a magnet -- it said Barbados! :o

So what's with the Pennsylvania thing? When "might" that happen?

Hi pjtulsa!!!

Thanks for thinking of me. I didn't jump ship, I jumped airfare! Between not being able to find decent air pricing, and figuring out which volleyball camp my granddaughter was going to -- it just sort of blew by the wind. I'm working on getting us on the Liberty at the end of July. The Freedom trip (NEXT WEEK :D ) is the spring trip that my sister and I will be taking. I'm going to take this conversation over to the roll call.

I have been on multiple cruises and the Festivale had to be one of my favorites. The narrow halls, the single room with a porthole that didn't open, and the toilet in the shower were interesting things. The curtains were a drab tan and rust color and the room only contained a desk and chair. One other thing that I remember of the Festivale and crew was that you never saw your room steward or any laundry carts or equipment in the halls. They knew when you were gone and had the room completely done up before your return. Unlike today when there are carts in the halls and you see the stewards fairly often. My room was mid-ship port side and to get to the room there was a side hall with access to the rooms. I remember enjoying the casino and broke even at the end of the cruise. At the time I thought the ship was huge, but now the new mega cruisers can swallow up 3 Festivales.

Festivale was my very first cruise, a college graduation present in 1994. There were 3 of us, and we had one of two mini-suites with a window that opened up onto the deck outside. It was great fun to peek through the curtains then wait until someone was coming and then just step out through the window! Thanks for the memories, and I will see if I have any other photos I can scan and post.

The Festivale was my 1st cruise too. We got upgraded to one of only 10 balcony suites on the ship. We thought we were in heaven. Everyone we met was so jealous of our "huge" suite. The funny thing was, that suite was only about as big as standard balcony cabins on today's ships. It was awesome tho since there were 4 of us girls in there. I don't know how we would have managed with the 4 of us in one of the standard cabins. They were tiny.

Dennis - I can't post pictures here but if I get a chance I'll e-mail some to you.

Thanks Heidi

I also tried to put a few pictures up but had the same problem. One other neat memory of the ship was that they allowed passengers to do skeet shooting off the back. Imagine that happening today...I don't think so. One of the posts earlier talked about the watercolor of the Festivale, while I don't have the watercolor I do have a picture of one. I don't know what happened to the one I received.
