room for a day in Aruba???

We are sailing on AOS and getting into Aruba at 8:00 am and will be there all day until 8:30 pm. We've read a lot about getting a day pass at some hotels like the Renaissance. But at $75 per person we are looking at $525 for all of us for the day. Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a room for the day? Has anyone done this?

The Renaissance has a private island beach with a shuttle. You could call them up and ask about this. I don't know if each person needs some sort of proof before they can board the shuttle boat to their beach or not as I've never been there.

If you're a bit more cost conscious you can just go to one of the other beaches, most go to Palm beach. The beach is public and there are lots of areas where they rent chairs for $5 or $10 on the beaches - or no charge to spread your towel or beach blanket. There are plenty of vendors and beach bar/restaurants to get food, drink and activities from. No need to buy a day pass. The only thing you'll miss is use of a hotel pool or rest room - although frankly once we walked into one hotel once to use the rest room and were not questioned.

There are other threads on this forum discussing good beach spots to go to where there are chair rental places, or just ask your cab driver - they pretty much know where you'll be welcome.
