Funny story - Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Hi:

 

I just returned from the Norwegian Pearl 5-night western Caribbean sailing that departed on 3/16. We were sailing in room 14500 - a garden villa. It was a truly wonderful experience. However, one strange thing happened that I had never experienced before.

 

Our check-in went very fast and they sent someone to escort us onto the ship. When we got on the ship a very kind woman escorted us into the elevator and up to the 14th floor. When the elevator doors opened i noticed the 14th floor was much more crowded than it had ever been on the previous trip (we had sailed on the Norwegian Pearl in Jan. 2007). It seemed odd, but I did not think much of it. When we arrived at our cabin, we found the door propped open and there were about 100 people inside wandering around and poking their heads into various nooks and crannies. At first, I thought we must have mistakenly walked into a lounge or something, but then I double checked the cabin number. Sure enough, it was our room and there was a tour group going through it! Apparently, the woman in the terminal who checked us in had forgotten to call ahead and tell the people on the ship that we had arrived. They were very apologetic and had everyone out in about 10 minutes, (also, I think it was partially our fault for arriving at the ship so early - it was only about 11:30) but I still thought it was a hilarious situation and we laughed about it for the whole cruise.

There was an agent's tour going on in the Courtyard of the Gem when we arrived (also way early!!). No big deal, but I wouldn't have wanted an entourage in my room...

When we got on HAL Noordam for our Alaska cruise last year there was a huge group of TA's touring the ship and having lunch. They looked very sad as they had to get off the ship and watch us sail-away!

When I attended the CLIA convention in 2007 we had the opportunity to tour many of the ships. While we were on the Celebrity ship another agent and I were in one of the smaller suites and talking about how nice it was. A gentleman passing in the hall stuck his head and said "if you think this is nice you ought to go see the one at the end of the hall, its fabulous". We made our way down the hall to what (according to the diagram) was the largest suite on the ship. He was right, it was fabulous. As we came in from the private deck, complete with hot tub, wet bar and fitness equipment, the gentleman was walking around the living room with the other agents. In the bedroom I remarked to my friend "I could just live here". The gentleman had also entered the room and said "I'm sure my wife won't mind if you sleep on the sofa".

 

Apparently it was his room. He obviously sailed often on the ship as the crew seemed to know him. Many of the lines we toured that weekend did not allow us the opportunity to see some of the suites and I really appreciated his willingness to allow us to see his.

We were on a ship one time and had an Owners Suite. One of those rooms that has a name. Well, we left the door propped open one day and we were sitting around chatting. A guy walked in with a drink in his hand and sat down. He started a converstion and we all looked at eachother. After a while he looked around and saw one of the bedrooms and a few other things that told him he was in a suite and not a lounge. He was very apologetic and as he left I tried to charge him a fee for the use of the room. The last cruise we went on was on the Jewel and we got to our room, unlocked the door, walked in and there was a young couple in our room. Boy did the girl get mad at us. Turns out they were in the wrong room. I had fun with that for the rest of the cruise. Before anyone wonders, they were able to get into our room because the room steward left the door open after he cleaned if from the previous cruise.

Thanks for sharing your story. And it's nice to hear that you were more amused by it than inflamed ... some others would have just complained about it and let it spoil their cruise ... glad you did not :p

The last cruise we went on was on the Jewel and we got to our room, unlocked the door, walked in and there was a young couple in our room. Boy did the girl get mad at us. Turns out they were in the wrong room. I had fun with that for the rest of the cruise.

This happened to us with our AB suite. We were getting ready to walk in when the door opened and out came four people!! :eek: They said, oh is this your cabin, it is gorgeous..lol We just laughed and said, thank you. :D

And when you saw them the rest of the cruise, you told friends "OH they are our bed warmers", rich folks have them also.

All I can say is I didn't get annoyed with them for being in there. I guess I should have checked out the guy a little more. He might have been our Gov.

Have not found dozens but found two after sailing. We were on the Jade thru the Panama Canal in February. I think it was on the second day and the maid service had left the door to our GV ajar as they were in and out. I went upstairs to the private sundeck and to see how my wife was doing. She was on the hammock reading. I looked aft on the stern side of the sundeck (there is a bow and stern portion, separated by the hot tub and patio below) where I saw a man and women in their mid 60's on the lounge chairs????? I asked her if she knew who they were, she looked surprised to see them, shrugged her shoulders and said no. I went around to the other side and asked how they were doing? They said fine and I asked how they got up on the sundeck? The husband said they came thru the hallway door and up the stairs. I then asked if they knew they were in a private area? They had a puzzled look on their face which told me they had no glue they had wandered into our Garden Villa. They were very nice and asked if I wanted them to leave. I said let me show you around which I did. It turns out they were in a Courtyard Villa and were just exploring. They invited me over to see their room and I had a chance to see their Villa. They were a very nice couple from Ireland and we enjoyed seeing them the rest of the cruise.

 

The funny thing is Ruth, the concierge, had warned us the day before about leaving the door open as people would wander in. I thought she was exaggerating! From that point on we did make sure to keep the door closed as when the GV door is open, the foyer and hallway to the living room looks like just another hallway in the ship. Well maybe the white baby grand piano at the end is a clue........:)

 

In any case we all had a good laugh. More later on the couple from England in the deluxe owner's suite who invited themselves over for a better view of the rescue at sea!

We were on the same cruise(3/16 Pearl) and were also greeted by the masses of people as we exited the elevator on the 14th floor. Some of them were still coming down the steps from our room(15500) as we tried to go up.

For us it happened a little different. During the Farewell Captians Party we offered to Claudio the oportunity to give tours of our GV to small groups during the party. Everyone that entered was very polite and appreciative and NCL might have gotten a few future GV sales out of it. My DH told Claudio we wanted 10% of what ever they make. LOL

Very good stories. And knowing Claudio you can forget the 10 %. LOL. I remember on our first few cruises we would wait to be the last ones off so we could go scout out the suites. Now you got me thinking and I have to book another cruise right away. Thanks a lot.
