Can't Wait To Anger The "chair Hogs"

:D We are going on the Valor on Sunday and I just can't wait for the first "at sea" day. I'm going to head on out to the pool and look around for the chairs with the token flip flop, sunscreen or book, any group of chairs with no living, breathing person and proceed to stack up their stuff and plunk my butt down.:p Don't get me wrong, I don't see a problem with an actual living person, just one, saving some seats for family.

Last year on the Triumph, a woman had the nerve to make up laminated signs with "Reserved for the *** family" on them and stick them to about 7 chairs. Well, you can imagine what happened, my husband and I and 2 other women took down those signs and put them aside. She came out about 1 hr later and was flabergasted that her chairs weren't still saved. Who was she, the Queen of England??? She was so pissed off and was really concerned about where her signs were. You know to quote her" she spent a lot of time making those signs" . I told her she couldn't use them anyway and she yelled at me to shut up. NICE!!

Hope I have as much fun this yr removing chair hogs stuff.

I do the same thing but my favorite is the Lounge hogs who send their kid in an hour before the show to reserve a whole row right up front. I just plop my big ol b*tt down and they can yell till they turn blue for all I care. If they get too loud I get on my cell phone and call the pursers desk and ask for security. That usually shuts them up.

The chair hogs were out early on the conquest last week. I took many chairs marked with towels and never saw the owners come up. I did hear some lady tell some guy "you jacked my chair" He said where you been for the last two hours!!!!!

...or overboard into the ocean, but I wouldn't like to hurt the environment. Can you imagine if a poor fish eats those signs??

Would love to, but cant do that

I understand if a spouse is saving a seat.. someone goes to the bathroom goes to get a drink... but minutes.. not hours!

Ughh...chair hogs. On my last cruise with my mother, she said "There aren't always enough chairs, so what you have to do is go up there early and put your towel and your book down so people know it's yours." I was like "No! I am not doing that....and people who do that are exactly why there aren't enough chairs."

And I can't believe people actually made signs! That's too funny.

The chair hog problem has caused my SO to go to extreme measures....he has recommended we book our next cruise in a Balcony room! :)

I know I haven't been on a cruise yet, but I can now consider this to be my favorite cruise pastime... that and the drinking. Whether I need the chairs or not, it will be fun stripping off the souvenier towels off the chairs and selling them on ebay for 10 bucks when I get home. :D

Wow, when I go on a cruise, I try to relax and have a great time. I try not to let chair hogs bother me or anything else.

I can't imagine looking forward to antagonizing anybody while I'm on vacation. Good luck with your plan.

I'm not antagonizing anyone, just standing up for what is right. I want to have a great time, that's why I don't let people ruin my vacation by not being able to find somewhere to sit. Why should anybody have to put up with rude, inconsiderate people?

HI !!! I was one of the women who helped you move the "signs" on the Triumph last year . I really cracked up when I saw your post. I still tell that story to many friends that cruise. Remember when she said "my kids got up at 6am to get these chairs" ? My girlfriend was so nervous that there would be an altercation. I just wish I had kept those stupid signs and placed them around the ship.. like in the casino , the shows, the buffet ..that would have been funny . Have fun on the Valor .. we wil be on the Freedom on Saturday.. thanks for the laugh:D .. Nancy

Hey Nancy, great to hear from you after a year. I wish we had taken lots of pics and put them on this site. That was so funny!!:D

You guys are TOO funny! It does bug me - what's wrong w/first come, first serve? Seems fair to me. People leave to eat entire meals and come back. How about if you're not using it you do the kind thing and let someone else enjoy? I like the toilet seat idea...again - - TOO funny!

That is too funny, about taking the signs and wanting to put them on various toilets around the ship! What a hoot! Even though I agree with the poster that I really try to avoid all altercations (unless really pushed), but then again I don't really care where I "lounge" on the deck and would probably prefer away from the pool area if it's noisy, but, God love you, go at it if you're up to it! I hate pushy people and God knows we've got enough of them here in Southern Florida! Happy sailing!

well I got my laugh for the day.. when we were on the triumph a few weeks back lots of college kids and seat saving was in full force. . I never took stuff off any I just walked around all the top decks until I found one other otherwise deck 3 outside the pursers office or opposite side are great quiet places to relax if you don't need the sun. would have been fun to ditch of few saved chairs that just had towels and no people for hours but i'm a wimp. . lol it can get messy and I know I couldn't stick up for myself but I know my hubby would do something like that.

we went to a week long music festival a few years back and you weren't suppose to save parking spots.. well same deal. we were driving around for probably 30 minutes trying to find a spot.. people would put chairs or coolers or even small trailers to save spots.. we took a cooler out of the way to get the spot.. man the guy across the parking lot was peedd.. he threatened to slash our tires.. and it was a christian music festival.. guess that guy was at the wrong gathering.
