MickeysMommy Posted March 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Hi there. I mainly wanted to know if there is anything that I definitely should or should not pack. Is there something you can recommend that you didn't think about? I don't want to over pack but I don't want to be without something that I many need. Thanks :)
theos on the go Posted March 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Hi Mickey, Have a good time on your first cruise. Our must pack is a power strip. There is only 1 or 2 outlets in the cabin. We always need more outlets (i.e. for hair irons, battery chargers, electric razor chargers, phone chargers, etc.) If you have an inside cabin then you may want a night light, because it is very dark in the cabin. I am sure there are plenty of do and do not pack lists floating around on these boards. Good luck, pack light and enjoy!!!! Theos
RoadTripFanatic Posted March 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2008 If I had to recommend one thing I would say do not forget your shampoo and conditioner. :) They have an "all-in-one" type provided on the ship but it's not that nice. :) I have an entire list but it's too much to post. Also I highly recommend a travel alarm clock. The rooms do not have clocks. (Don't forget the beach bag!!)
endlsop Posted March 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2008 pack lite I thought I did last year but still over packed. They only thing we needed was a needle and thread. None to be found finally our room steward found one. I will bring it this year. Also, bring a cooler for your room. We brought 24 bottled water and some soda and wine. Room steward filled with ice faithfully daily.
princess*caitlyn Posted March 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I am also going on my first cruise. A few GREAT suggestions that I have found are the power strip as mentioned above and also an over the door shoe organizer so you can keep all of you bathroom stuff in one place without taking up a bunch of precious space. princess*caitlyn Posted March 28, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I am leaving on the 5th and we have already started a little packing. I have a bag sitting out of things that I know I will forget like qtips, razors, shaving cream. As I think of it I run and throw it in the bag. Another big thing that I am afraid of forgetting is DDs medications

Another big thing that I am afraid of forgetting is DDs medications I was just getting ready to reply with don't forget medicines. I've been on many cruises and always make a list with medication, drivers license, passport, tickets, and credit card on top of it. But still forgot 1/2 of my medicine on a couple cruises ago. gazingm42 Posted March 28, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Some of the things I would suggest. No Iron - They don't allow them in rooms - Fire hazards.. There one to use in the wash room. Hair dryers - There is one in the room. Power strips - as mention there limited plugs. If you have camera chargers, cell phone charges, laptops etc you need one. On Balcony rooms - Some bring a budgie cord to hold the door opens. Swimming and snorkling - If you plan on beach swimming bring your gear if you have it. Water shoes - Depending on excursion you may want them. Water proof keep-it-safe - Nice for sign n sail, dl, small amount of cash. You can find them online http://www.mauidiveshop.com/Store/DetailRET.aspx?ID=16 Or at any dive shop in Florida. Post notes - To leave notes to each other or steward on mirror. Laundry soap - We take these tables we get at wally world they a easy to take. One table in the washer does the trick. A fraction on what the charge on the ship. Extra bags - For all that stuff you could not leave the island without :) Battery, Film or Memory cards - Can be high priced on the ships or in ports. Review the new TSA batter for check and carry on bags. Drinking water - Nice to bring on a few bottle waters in you suitcase. Swimming on 1st night - If you or children want to swim before you leave port or 1st nigh. Carry ON a swimming outfit. As your bags can arrive late after dinner. Same goes true with outfit for dinner. Garbage bags - For Dirty clothes, etc.

WestTxCruiser Posted March 28, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 28, 2008 How excited you must be. Our first was last July and our 2nd is in 2 months. We are just as excited about this one as we were about the 1st. We WAYYYYYYY over packed last time. I will pack more bathing suits and cover ups and leave most of the shorts/shirts and endless pairs of shoes at home. We spent 90% of our days in swimsuits. Take plenty of lotion, the salt water can be heck on your skin. Don't sweat the small stuff, and remember it's all small stuff. Have a wonderful time!!!! Cruisin thru life Posted March 28, 2008 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2008 Some of the things I would suggest. Hair dryers - There is one in the room. Not ALL the ships have hair driers. I suggest checking before hand with Carnival.
soon to cruise Posted March 28, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I havent seen the magnetic card for your safe mentioned. We used an old used walmart gift card (no money on it of course) to use to swipe the safe open and closed. You arent suppose to use a credit card cause it can de-magnetize it and make it unusable. Oh another thing....bring your own lanyard to hang your SS card around your neck. The one the casino gives you is just a big "coil" and catches your hair. I'll keep thinking!! I'm so happy for you and your first cruise. I've only been on one and I cant wait to go again!!!
poohbear Posted March 28, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 28, 2008 battery operated clock for your cabin. Highlighter so you can mark things to do in the capers easily. That is all I can think of now that has not been mentioned. I always over pack. We had 2 adults and 2 kids a few weeks ago and ended up with 6 bags. 7 bags when we left the ship(for all the wonderful stuff I bought while in port.) Works every time..And of course if you've already got a group, or someone from CC..all the better.. I mostly go solo..so I make do. You can set your phone for a wake-up call (see big green binder for #..maybe #37)Also the music chanel on TV will give time for constant cabin time As I take small can juices.for my afternoon "tea"...a can opener. And my BIG orange 54oz Bubba Keg sipper..and my new Platinum Coffee Thermos, for deck coffee, or water w/ice ashore. RICKO Posted March 31, 2008 #19 Share Posted March 31, 2008 All of the above items will help. I would also take some type of air freshener just in case the last person was a heay smoker or smoked cigars in the room or balcony. Small cooler for excursions and for holding the cookies and milk I order from room service. Or coronas that I buy while at beach. Rick
