Excursions charged already

Our cruise is in May and we filled out an on line order for excursions. I checked my credit card and Carnival has already charged my card for them. Is this what Carnival usually does? What if you change your mind and cancel one of them? I have been on 12 cruise's but none with Carnival and have never had our excursions charged to our credit card in advance? What is up with this??????

faq.gifspacer.gifCan I cancel an online shore excursion order?spacer.gifYou may cancel all or part of a shore excursion order online at any time prior to the cut-off date. Simply click “Edit/Modify My Shore Excursion Orders” at the bottom of the itinerary box on the My Reservation page. You will be automatically issued a full refund to the credit card that was used to pay for the shore -excursion order. Please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to post to your account. No changes can made within the cut-off window. If you need to make changes after the cut-off date, you must wait until sailing and see the Shore Excursion Manager onboard. In the event of a cruise booking cancellation within the cut-off window, a full refund will be automatically posted to the credit card used to pay for the order.

If the designated contact person on a shore excursion order cancels their cruise booking and the remaining guests who are sailing would like to retain the shore excursion order, a new contact person needs to be assigned. If a designated contact person cancels and does not reassign the responsibility, the associated shore excursion orders will be automatically canceled and payment will be refunded.

Once you are onboard the ship, your cancellations are subject to a 25% cancellation charge. However, all shore excursion orders are non-refundable within 24 hours of arrival in port. A refund, less any applicable cancellation charges, will be applied to the designated contact person’s sail and sign account. Carnival will only offer shipboard credit for shore excursion order refunds. Please note; any credit not utilized by the end of your cruise will be refunded via check to the order’s designated contact person on the morning of debarkation.

We have booked 3 excursions for our fire & ice cruise in sep/oct and all have been charged to our account. Is good from our point of view in that being from Australia we got a favourable exchange rate. :)

We can also say that Carnival staff were very helpful in that we nearly cancelled one (due to some confusion) and had written requesting cancellation and then changed our minds :o The guys at Carnival were friendly & understanding.

Cheers

For our february cruise on the conquest we booked the race fantastique in december and I swear it never hit my card??? But we were on the race. I looked at my statements when I got back. Only thing I can think is my wife was paying for the cruise and I put my card on the excursions?? Maybe something got crossed?

When we were in Cozumel, we were going to take a catamaran sailing and it was raining. There was a Carnival rep at the ship and said we could cancel if we didn't want to go. There was only us and one other couple. We chose to cancel and within a day or so, it showed up as a credit on our S&S card. Excursions and Bon Voyage are not a part of your cruise cost so they are charged immediately.

We paid for ours ahead of time and while on our cruise we seen that they were rebilled to our S&S card. If I had just looked further I would have seen the credit for the same amount. That was the way they bill it.

So, where is it that you can pre-order these excursions? Do you have to go on the Carnival website to do it? I haven't actually "registered" my info with Carnival and gotten a username/password, etc. cuz every time I log on to the website, it says "hello Tina ----" so I would assume that they have my info already. But I did not see a link to order shore excusions. Do I actually have to "register" with them first before I get this link option?
