Yankee Playoffs

"They owned the best record in Interleague play this year with an 11-1 record, so I don't think they will have a problem if they make it to the World Series."

The Tampa Bay D'Rays were 15-3 against the National Leage. They ended the season 70-91.

And your point? Are you trying to compare the team that had the best record in both leagues with the Devil Rays? If you want to argue who is the best team, that's fine, but please stick to the facts and make relevant points instead of attempting to sidestep the issue with something that has nothing to do with anything. The Devil Rays aren't in the playoffs so your point has no merit. The Cardinals ARE in the playoffs and if they make it to the World Series, they will give any team they play a run for their money. Eric Gagne of the Dodgers said it best in his postgame interview last night when he stated, "I think we just got beat by the world champions." I still maintain now that the Astros beat the Braves, they will be the Cardinal's best competition.

I agree. I think we could've beaten the Braves a little easier than the Astros though. We'll see. It will be a great series regardless! The Astros are on fire and I hope that the Cardinals can hold their own.

What's my point?????? You're kidding right??? ? You emphatically state that because the Cards had an 11-1 record against the AL, that they will no doubt prevail in the WS. BTW, the Cards didn't even play one AL playoff team this year. I again point out that the horrible D'Rays also had a great record against the NL (15-3) but I don't think the NL team in the WS would simply hand them the WS trophy because of it.

Now I notice you are in Vegas, the town known for handicapping based on statistical likllihood. However, mere statistical analysis fails to take the following into account; 1) If they play the Yankees, Mystique and Aura will rule the day and the Cards will fall and 2) If they play the Red Sox, the Curse of the Bambino will be invoked and the Cards will be the Champions of the World. :)

BTW, What did you expect Gagne to say. "They stink. They'll get killed in the WS".

Well, you certainly can't argue with Mystique and Aura now, can you? Since you capitalized their names, the question must be asked: are they strippers at your favorite watering hole? Your responses to this thread are beginning to make me believe you fall into the latter category of baseball fans vs. rabid team fans, which leads me to understand where you are coming from: somewhere south of your waist.

Sports books are not always correct in their predictions, which is what allows the bettors to keep coming back in the hopes of winning. But the statistical analysis they use is what keeps them open. The owners don't build new casinos off the winners now, do they? The only time Mystique and Aura come into play is during a lap dance.

You have made it quite obvious that you feel your own quote coming from Gagne is quite appropriate - that the Cards will get killed in the WS if they play the Yankees. If that is fact and as blatantly obvious as you seem to believe, why wouldn't he have said that rather than lie and make the statement that he did? Oh, I think I know. Maybe it's because he's a professional in every aspect of the term, including the ability to judge an opposing team and honestly state an educated opinion. You certainly do not fall into that category. I'm sorry I asked what your point was. It is now clear to me the only one you have is the one on top of your head. The Yankees are a good team; every bit as good as last year when they fell to the wild card Marlins.

Disrespecting Mystique and Aura; Curt Schilling made that same mistake back in 2001. Luckily for him, that was in the dark days of baseball when home field advantage was handed to AZ because of a rotating basis. Had it been decided on the field of honor, game 7 would have been in NY and M&A would have decided the contest.

I did notice an affinity for body parts in your post...

Thank you for further illustrating my game first, team second point!

Kudos to MLB for not licensing the "Who's your Daddy T-Shirt"...

Wow - The Moose is perfect thru 6... this is going to be a great series! Maybe next year the Washington 'formerly known as the Expos' will be contenders ;)

You didnt get to see any of the games on the ship? We leave Sunday on the explorer...my husband will kill me if he doesnt get to see the world series! Of course that is when the yankees clinch! We have been on two cruises during the world series and the yankees lost both times...hopefully that curse is over this time! And on one cruise (Carnival) we didnt get to see it, but last time on NCL, we did...hope we have good luck with RCL!!!!!

Go Yankees!!!!!!!

My friends left on the Rhapsody yesterday and said that someone from RCCL told them they would be able to watch the Astros game tonight and the rest of the week while on the ship. How is this possible? Do the ships have satellite? We are huge Astros fans, so I hope they watch the 'stros go one up on the cardinals!! GO ASTROS!!!!

ESPN International, which the ships have rights to, carries the playoffs. We saw the Sox/Yankees last week on Mariner. The ships do have satellite, but because they are in International waters, have limited channels available due to rights.

Well the plot thickens. Down 0-3 and grinding back into it. Be very afraid Yankee fans. If Schilling pulls this off tonight??? Wow!! ( or is that "Holy Cow"? )

Well enjoy Sox fans and you too Yankee fans. Don"t the rest of hayseeds around the country envy us up here in the Northeast?? Sox and Yanks and the minor leagues! The only way anyome else wins the Series is after these two great teams get through pounding the snots out of each other.

This is the best time of year up here! This is why we need a cruise afterwards. It beats us up also.

Go Sox!! and we'll do it all over again next year!!!

First off, Yankee fans arent the same as they used to be. The 70s are over and so are the battery throwing days. Lets be real./QUOTE]

Okay, let's DO be real. Was tonight's game a time warp back to the '70's? Oh, but that's right - tonight they didn't throw batteries at the players, they threw baseballs. Same difference though - the players had to play a half inning with police surrounding the field due to fear of a fan riot, fans getting out of control, fans possibly doing bodily harm to the players they paid to come and watch.

I thought the Yankees players were a pretty good bunch until that attempt at cheating while running to first base late in tonight's game. But even with that event under their belts, they still do not hold a candle to their fans for being unsportsmanlike. If I was a Yankees fan tonight, which I thankfully am not, I would be ashamed. Very ashamed.

Anyone want to give me odds on the Yankees and Red Sox meeting on the field and shaking hands after Game 7 like the Cards and Dodgers did? But then, an act of sportsmanship like that takes class, doesn't it?

LOL how far back in the pages did you have to go for that quote??? You dont think Yankees are going to look into that magical hat of thiers and pull something out tonight. Another Yankee will be a hero tonight....dunno who...but it will happen. Whether its Brown or Javy....or a homerun from a pinch hitter such as Loften...it will happen. I am impressed that Boston are playing like real men....usually they are the "football" type players. Lets just see where we are at tommarrow morning. IF Yankees fall, I will become a national league fan real quick for a week. :D

Dang, another late night. At least the outcome was good this time. In some ways I want the Sox to lose so I can get some sleep, but this is better. UNBELIEVABLE. Can't wait to see my professor this morning who is an Evil Empire fan. What Rodriguez did just confirms that he is a spoiled millionaire not concerned with playing fair.

GO SOX

Well well well, Who cares about an anticlimactic World Series? Even if Roger comes back to his old stomping grounds.

Kevin Brown for the Yanks tonight??

Well as I said yesterday, be very afraid Yankee fans, be very afraid. That, last night, was an effort for the ages.

On our cruise on the Serenade last Feb. we had breakfast with a couple from Phoenix and ,when seeing my Sox hat,she pointed at me and said "You stole our Kurt!" She was more than half serious. Now I fully realize why. And so do the Yankee fans Yikes!!!

to Kristin in CT. Please be a National League fan. Do not leave the evil empire, Stay on the Dark Side and keep your Evil Karma from the Sox!!!
