itninja Posted March 31, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2008 Are there ATM's on board to take out US Cash? We get after the first sea day on the cruise and would like to take some cash out for tips etc. Thanks!
CRUSINGFAMILY Posted March 31, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2008 There are ATM's in the casino, however I usually just take cash from the casino cashier which is charged to your on board account, but doesn't show up like a cash advance, at the end of the cruise it is just charged to your credit card. The ATM's will result in some access fee's I am sure I have never used them. Hope that helps you Happy cruising Brian J

I'll see what the ATM fee is, but i'll probably pull cash on my credit card instead, as your right, the fee is probably more steep for the ATM. Any idea if I can change or add an account mid ship that my seapass is associated to? E.g. change it to my debit card halfway through, pull the cash and then change it back? wrp96 Posted March 31, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2008 If you get cash off your Seapass account it does not show up as a cash advance, it shows up as entertainment. So you would not incur any charges for getting cash off your Seapass card at the casino. This is absolutely the best way to get cash onboard. The fee for the ATM will be $5 plus any fees your own bank charges. You can always put cash down on your Seapass account mid cruise, or have them switch out which cards you are using. springtxbill Posted March 31, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2008 The ATM's ave a record of being broken at times and are not put back in service until the ship returns to its home port.:)
Schplinky Posted April 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2008 We always use the casino cage. You get FF miles on your spending money (or whatever other bonus you get with your card) and you don't pay the ATM fee, which was $6 on our last cruise. pmfan Posted April 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2008 Yes, you can change cards mid cruise. Just go to guest relations to do this.
lady_cruiser Posted April 1, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 1, 2008 There are a few things to know about ATM machines on cruise ships: Very few work, if at all. You are charged an access fee on the ship and another fee from your bank at home. If they do work they are usually out of money before the second day at sea. If you need cash use your SetSail Pass at the cashier's window in the Casino. The amount will be charged to your cabin with no cash advance fee showing up on your credit card statement the next month. We did this on our last cruise. You can always bring some Traveler's Checks with you and cash them at the Purser's desk. We have done that in the past too.
