willottica Posted April 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2008 Can anyone recommend a good airboat tour operator? We'd like to see the Everglades when we get off our cruise.
Bequia Posted April 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Which cruiseport are you traveling through and what airport are you flying out of ?
willottica Posted April 10, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 10, 2008 That's pretty much irrelevant, but I'll tell you why. We cruise into Miami and pick up a rental car, then fly out of Orlando several days later. So we can go anywhere.
Bequia Posted April 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Very good. Best way to do it is with a rental car. I'd suggest the airboat operators off of Tamiami Trail. It is a 35-minute drive from downtown Miami to a part of the Everglades National Park where a range of airboat operators offer “safaris”of the “Glades”. Coopertown Tours is one of the oldest operators http://www.coopertownairboats.com/ , my favorite is Everglades Safari Park http://www.evsafaripark.com/ Gator Park packs them in as well http://www.gatorpark.com/full_site/. Discount coupons are available on all of the operators web sites.
bqkali Posted April 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2008 I did Everglades Alligator Farm last April. The airboat was tons of fun and we had a great guide who pointed out tons of alligators. We also had fun going VERY fast and getting whipped around curves, etc. However, other than the airboat, the "park" part was highly overrated. Not much to see, unless you have kids who might enjoy it.
cotomom Posted April 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2008 We just did Buffalo Tiger's tour yesterday. Elvis was our guide and our family of 4 got to ride alone! The other tours looked PACKED with tour buses. $20 pp and we saw at least 10 alligators very upclose and personal! Along with a few raccoons, it was perfect! :)
