Gradeur Bermuda Cruise Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know or have experience with Verizon CDMA cell phone coverage on Gradeur of the Seas? RCs website states they do have "towers" on select ships but do not state which ships actually have the capability. In addition, do you have to inform Verizon that your phone will be roaming internationally? I appreciate any information one can provide on this subject.

Just went through this. First off you have to call Verizon to have your phone set so you can use it internationally. There is no charge for this IF you are a long term customer. If you've just gotten Verizon in the past few years they MAY charge you a deposit, which of course you'd get back over time. From what I understand Granduer does have towers, BUT remember once you are on the ship the fee for using your cell phone is 2.49 per minute ~ regardless if you are callling someone else who has Verizon or not, and regardless if they are standing right next to you on the ship. AND if you are in port but still on the ship, unless the ship turns off their towers in port you are STILL on the ship's towers. So ask once on board if they shut their towers off when in port. We were told to make sure we were clear of the ship before making any calls as Verizon does not refund for customer error (thinking they were off the ship's towers) ~ and if you have a newer phone it "should" show a little ship when your on the ship's towers, but that is for extremely new phones. Hope this answers your questions. If you still aren't sure call Verizon and ask what the per minute fee is for Bermuda just so you know ahead of time, and then call Royal Caribbean and ask if Granduer has cell phone towers on her. Enjoy your cruise.
