Stacey779 Posted April 14, 2008 #26 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Does anyone know if you get the OBC and an interline rate if you own the stocks? Ive heard you get one or the other. Also do you get the Seniors discount and the OBC if you own stock? I would like to buy and keep it until retirement but will buy other stock if I dont get both. We got a military discount on the most recent cruise we booked, so I'm interested to know this as well.

Yes, you'll receive the stock credit even if you've gotten the millitary discount. We also have a $100 OBC from a letter we wrote Carnival. The other OBC's have no bearin on your stock credit. nolaAlive Posted April 14, 2008 #29 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Do you get to use the onboard credit each time you sail or is there a limit on how many times you can use it? Also, how many shares do you have to buy to qualify for the onboard credit? If you are booked on multiple cruises, best if you fax the info in for each cruise separately. If you bundle them together, they sometimes balk. Also, if you are booked on group cruises, a different department is responsible for granting the OBC, so the procedure is a little different. I tend to think not on a interline rate. On a senior rate I would think yes. I think Interline would fall under "Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer." The nebulous "Certain restrictions apply" allows them to do pretty much whatever they want, but I've always gotten the OBC. They do have an 800 number. Why not call them up and ask the horse? KLLund Posted April 14, 2008 #31 Share Posted April 14, 2008 One other note .. I bought the 100 shares in my 401k plan and it made no difference whatsoever .. I still got the OBC in Feb (about 2 weeks after I bougt the stock) and I already see it for my Oct Cruise :)

It also doesn't matter if you have 100 shares of RCL sitting right next to it, either. ;)
winddawn Posted April 14, 2008 Author #33 Share Posted April 14, 2008 I found a new PDF document available on the Carnivalcorp website: http://library.corporate-ir.net/library/14/140/140690/items/287713/Carn_Benefit.pdf
jcanino Posted April 15, 2008 #34 Share Posted April 15, 2008 Has anyone seen what the OBC incentives are for '08 and beyond? I remember reading on the Carnival Corp site that those figures were for through Dec 07. Same as they have been per the current Annual Report. triplee Posted April 16, 2008 #35 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Hi, I decided the price was okay at 39.15 (avg. inc. broker commission), so I bought 100 shares this morning. A 4% dividend is okay so I will just use it to reinvest in the stock, (DRIP). Having an OB credit is okay with me anytime as well.:D :D :D Lee

Hebejeebe Posted April 16, 2008 #38 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Don't buy the stock if you are only going to cruise once and you are only interested in the OBC. The share price fluctuation can easily wipe out your OBC savings. If you cruise once a year the benefit is worth only about 2.5% (tax free) on your initial investment. Of course, the more you cruise on Carnival owned lines the greater the benefit. I own shares jointly with my wife. We often book two cabins with the kids. Carnival will give a single $100 OBC. But when I booked on Princess we got $200 (DW in one cabin with kids, me in the other cabin with kids). It may have been a fluke.
triplee Posted April 16, 2008 #39 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Hi, Bought the 100 shares yesterday as a long term investment. Going on a b-2-b cruise on the Glory on 09/06/08 & 09/13/08!!!! Just wondering if I will get $100 per cruise or possibly $250 for the two? Nice problem to ponder!:D :D Lee

chandom Posted April 17, 2008 #42 Share Posted April 17, 2008 Back to back count as 2 cruise. So part A will get the the amount based on number of days, part B will get amount based on number of days. The amounts would be issued at the start of each part. enester Posted April 18, 2008 #43 Share Posted April 18, 2008 triplee, did you find out yet how much obc you get for b2b? CCL was up again today. :-) We got $200 for two 7 day back to backs. Kinda odd.... if you booked a 14 day cruise you'd get $250... but with two 7 day back to backs you get $200. I didn't win the discussion with Carnival that 7 day back to back's on the same ship should be considered a single 14 day cruise :o
triplee Posted April 23, 2008 #44 Share Posted April 23, 2008 To answer Windawn's question: My OBC credit has not shown up so far. Not worried at this point as I still have 137 days before we leave on our cruise. I was thinking that CCL will probably consider the B-2-B as two 7-day cruises and give "only" $200 for both. For $50, I am not about to complain! I will be on vacation, relaxing at sea and wandering about the ports of call, living life! (Hurricanes permitting) Stock down yesterday and today, but still up vs. the purchase date. Oil markets really are making things tough along with the credit crunch. Perfect time to buy if; a. You have money you won't miss b. You have the gumption to take the plunge! I wonder what CCL would do for an investment of 100k to 200k? Any additional perks? I guess that sum is a small amount to them. I just looked in my wallet and I am wondering where my spare 100k went? Now I remember, I filled my 3 cars with gas! I would have ended with "LOL" but gas prices are hurting folks; not a laughing matter:-( Lee
