Ladyvdr Posted April 19, 2008 #28 Share Posted April 19, 2008 100K to 200K is a broad range. I have a hard time believing a number with that much wiggle. If you take the $10 pp per day number that is being listed by some X 2000 passengers (modest #) X 7 days, that = 140K in food alone. If you add in all the alcohol consumed on board, I think you can see why 100K to 200K including alcohol would not be unreasonable.
Rare Captain Funtime Posted April 26, 2008 #29 Share Posted April 26, 2008 I thought the thread was about the cost of food. I doubt they want us to know anything about the cost of booze.
alwaysmomof1 Posted April 26, 2008 #30 Share Posted April 26, 2008 $10 to $11 a day sounds about right. My guess is that most people only eat closer to two meals a day... Dinner, and either a decent breakfast or lunch, and some snacking on either end. You've got to save room for the two-entree' dinner... :D Even at home, you can prepare some very nice meals for $10 per person, per day... and that's without the benefit of purchasing using economies of scale. The Carnival fleet -- in just a week -- will serve its guests: 51,175 pounds of tenderloin 108,140 pounds of chicken 17,940 Cornish game hens 11,120 whole ducks 475,250 shrimp 16,495 pounds of veal 86,200 hot dogs 115,750 hamburgers 14,095 pounds of ham 12,400 pounds of salmon 5,565 pounds of nova (smoked salmon) 24,150 pounds of lobster And for breakfast lovers: 736,240 eggs 17,890 gallons of fruit juices 765,140 bacon slices 10,70 pounds of link sausages 26,070 pounds of coffee 17,755 gallons of homogenized milk 27,760 bagels 26,670 pounds of butter 1,930 pounds of grits 99,570 individual boxes of breakfast cereal Here are some fruit and vegetable figures: 191,930 tomatoes 296,300 potatoes 112,900 heads of iceberg lettuce 37,349 bell peppers 22,065 cucumbers 120,590 bananas 64,225 apples 30,400 melons 28,035 fresh pineapples The Italian deck officers help guests finish off 19,375 pounds of pasta. Pastries are all made aboard “from scratch,” using in part: 33,615 pounds of cake mixes 117,160 pounds of flour 29,180 pounds of shortening Thirsty “Fun Ship” guests drink their way through: 459,360 cans of soft drinks 497,430 gallons of soda from the bar fountain 562,380 domestic and imported beers 38,160 quarts of fruit juice for exotic drinks 31,480 bottles of champagne and sparkling wines 80,195 bottles of wine 16,710 liters of Scotch 14,780 liters of rye and Canadian whiskey 15,520 liters of vodka 9,950 liters of gin 13,710 liters of rum 16,000 liters of tequila and vermouth 3,150 liters of cordials and liqueurs 1,575 fifths of brandy and cognac Ventureman.........Where did you get this information?
