twopugs Posted April 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2008 We are going on Carnival and during sea days they allow children under 1 (with a parent) to use the kids club area. I assume that means using a padded/floor section probably has a few toys (please correct me if I am wrong on that) Originally, I thought that this wouldn't be needed and I cringed at the thought of all of the germs (first time mom...so very paranoid about germs:) Then, DS started crawling much earlier than expected and now I feel like he may need space to roam and get some energy out. With your experience with the kids clubs did you feel that they were kept clean?
kitty9 Posted April 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2008 They try as best they can, but with the huge numbers of kids cruising, it's impossible to keep things spic and span constantly. I would suggest bringing some sort of wipes if you want to bring your baby to the club. You could wipe down the mat and even the toys. Another solution is to go to the club and bring your own toys for the baby.
twopugs Posted April 13, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Yes, I always have wipes in hand:) I just didn't know if that would be frowned upon. (like I am assuming it is a dirty place)
meatball77 Posted April 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2008 They make the kids wash their hands as soon as they come into the club. The carnival club seemed extremly clean.
stensy Posted April 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Does anyone have any experience with leaving an under 2 in the kids club on Carnival? We will be going on the Conquest in May with our then 20 month old DD. She is comfortable playing at nursery/ mother's day out/etc., so I am not concerned whether she will be happy there, just wondering if they have someone "watching" the little ones (since we will have to pay to leave her there)? Also, do they have age appropriate activies or toys, or is this too much to hope for?? I have read on another thread that they like to keep the kids' activities structured and don't like it much if the kids want to do their own thing. I know DD would like trying to do "bigger kid" activities, but she only has a limited attention span.
crusinmama06 Posted April 14, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Well the area is somewhat clean (this is coming from a germaphobe mom...lol) So I would say it's a clean as it's going to get with that many kids running around. When the Under 2's are there during the day hours, no one else is allowed to be in there. For the Under 2 babysitting hours (daytime) there is a counselor who watches them. Then pretty much have free play. After 10pm, there is free play at well. It won't be structured as much. After 10pm, they watch movies and lay down with blankets/pillows
dolphinwyo Posted April 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Our 3 y.o. DS was just on the Carnival Imagination. They made all the kids sanitize their hands before entering. On the last day, I saw them piling up all the toys and doing a very intense sanitizing of toys, etc. They said they are always cleaning and sanitizing. Nobody got sick out of my bunch. They had a variety of toys - mostly stored in cabinets and then they brought them out to play with. The floor was carpeted. I personally thought it was cleaner than most daycares.
