Has anyone done the bicycle excursion offered by RC on grand cayman? I'm trying to find something for hubby and I to do that is not the stingrays or going to a beach. would like to see the town and this seemed like it could be a good way - though I've seen posts about a lot of traffic.

thanks

Hubby and I did this excursion in late May 10. We are both pretty fit, and enjoy bike riding. We thought this was a good way to enjoy the island. This was NOT the case. We were in a group that raced through the tour! It is a seven mile ride, which was done with several water breaks. We seldom saw the leader as he was waaaaayyyyy out in front. This was not a leisurely trip in any way! We were sucking air just to try to keep up. The Turtle Farm and rum stops were great! The bike part of the excursion was to be followed with a snorkle trip and lunch. We were exhausted and disgusted with the first part of the trip, so we opted to go back to the ship. This was a "Tour de-Caymon" trip, not a sightseeing trip by bike. I would not recommend this excursion at all!

Thank you for posting your experience. We are headed to the Cayman's in March and that is one of the excurions I was looking at. Had pictured a lovely ride, viewing the scenery as we strolled by. Sounds like I need to take this one off of my list. We enjoy what we call "Grampa & Gramma" rides. Not the "Can you catch me" type that you experienced.

My DH & I just did this tour in October 2010.

There were 5 of us total that did this excursion, and we were all over 50.

The two young men who guided us were very informative and attentive.

One rode a bike in the lead, and the other drove a truck behind us.

We rode at a nice speed. Not to fast, yet not so slow you were bored.

We stopped 4 times. Once to look out over the water and get some photos of our ship, @ the turtle farm, the rum factory :) and in HELL.

I would recommend this excursion for anyone who thinks they would enjoy riding a bike for 7.5 miles on flat roads. Was not strenious @ all.
