Transatlantic cruising

Just wanted to get some opinions.....We are thinking about booking the Crown next year from Ft.Lauderdale to Lisbon 4/26/09. How are these cruises when it comes to activities as there are 6 continouis sea days, is it usually a full ship and what is the average age group....

We took the Star Princess TA in Dec. 2007 Rome to FLL. There were the usual activities that you find on all of the Grand Class ships on sea days. We didn't find anything different just because there were many sea days in a row.

 

The ship sailed full. Many of the cruisers on our voyage do a TA at least once if not twice a year (black cruise cards were definitely in the majority). Very few young people (under 50) and my guess would be average age was 65.

 

We are doing the TA on the Crown in 2 weeks - FLL to CPH so will see if it is any different than our experience on the Star Princess.

Love those transAtlantics (and transPacifics also).

 

Many activities scheduled during the day - pick and choose.

 

I love finding a comfortable chair, a good book, and watch people and the ocean.

 

We just completed a 12 night Miami to Barcelona trip on Oceania's Regatta, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We did a transatlantic cruise last year on RCCL and loved it. It was so relaxing. We are in our 40's/30's and were definitely in the minority. I would say the average age was over 60. (but still a great and enjoyable crowd) But 12 days on the ship, with 7 of these at sea, and we still didn't get around to all the activities we would have liked! There was PLENTY to do!

I highly recommend it and we want to do it again!
