ok I am thinking about going on the explorer and was woundering what hotel has the best view of the ship. We are from ohio driving down night before and we love to see the ship pull in, in the morning any hotels that can get good view??????!!!:)

Having been there only once, there are probably folks much better qualified to answer, but from what I recall

 

NONE. The port is in an industrial area, about a 15-20 minute ride from the airport. I don't recall a hotel anywhere in sight.

There is a security checkpoint that may not allow you in if the ship hasn't arrived.The best place to see the ship come in is either standing on top of the Varrzanno Narrows bridge or along the shore in Staten Island.Check the hotels in Staten Island that have a view of NY.you may get lucky.The ship docks at a working shipyard for container ships and set back a couple of miles from the main roads.Good luck.John

I don't believe there are any Staten Island hotels near the Verrazano Bridge. Hotels are off the SI Expressway--no views of the water from there.
