Capri

Is shore excursion necessary for Capri? Is the ferry terminal close to where the ship is docked / anchored? how long is the ferry ride? hopefully is a smooth ride. What should I look out for in Capri?

Thanks everyone for their comments.

You can certainly do this on your own. If your ship is docked at the Naples port...when you get off the ship head towards the left and you will see the booths to buy your tix for the ferry to Capri (and the ship's 'tour' to Capri will be heading to those same ferries). To get to the 'main' town of Capri...you have to get the funicular up the hill. A visit to Anacapri is also worth your while since you are there.

Enjoy!

We went to Capri from Sorrento. When we got off the tender it was a short walk to the ticket booth. The ferry was a hydrofoil and the trip was very smooth. We found a driver as we left the dock in Capri who agreed to drive us all over the island at a very reasonable price. (This was late October.)
