Graduation celebration cruise!

Recommended Posts

We're going to be cruising on Carnival's Sensation on July 3rd for my nephew's high school graduation celebration. It'll be 3 families...me, my DH, and DD (10yo); my sister, her DS (17yo, the graduate), and her DD (13yo); my niece, her DH, and his DS (10yo). I know that there is a Dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon, and then there is the Atlantis, but other than shopping what else is there to do in the Bahamas? Is there a beach that we can go to for the day? Two of the families in our group have cruised before, my family and my niece and DH, but my sister's family have never cruised. Should we just stay on the ship? Any suggestions would be helpful!! TIA!!

Since you mention Atlantis, I assume you are talking about Nassau, Bahamas, correct? We were just there on our Valor cruise last month (also a graduation celebration ~ for our youngest sons college graduation). To be honest, there isn't much in Nassau.

We were only there for a few hours, so all we did was go to the Pirates of Nassau Museum and then look around a little and get back on the ship. We were only off the ship for a little over an hour.

Cable Beach is a popular beach that has hotels, restaurants and casinos. Then there is Cabbage Beach which is on Paradise Island ~ I think you have to take a water taxi or a ferry or something to get there. You can get a day pass at the British Colonial Hilton, which is walking distance from the pier for around $15 per person and use their pool and beach.

Also, check out the Ports of Call section of the boards ~ there is a Bahamas board that can give you lots of ideas and info. Good luck!

We have been plenty of times.......gosh get off the ship and go to Atlantis....when you get to the pier call Atlantis and see if they have any "day rates" available (Rooms) , you can get up to 4 people in a room and the wrist bands for for people and enjoy Atlantis for the day (look on line all about Atlantis , many many pools, slides, beach, aquarium, tons of things to do) then go back to the room , shower and change , catch the taxi back to the ship in time for "Captain's night" dinner , you and your kids will have had a GREAT day in Atlantis and then a great night on the ship! We have done this a few times and have NEVER regreted it.........the kids LOVED it!!! Enjoy........don't go to the Bahama's and never even get off the ship........what a shame that would be. The day rate was only like $99.00 for the day ........we had the room from 8am- 9or 10pm. more then enough time to get to the room , change into your bathing suits, explore Atlantis, enjoy the beach/water slided, pools/ ........adults could go check out the casino and shops,......stop into the "dig" aquarium , go back to the room , shower and change in nice large bathrooms......back to the ship in time for dinner!:D Hope this helps!

By the way "day rates" are not advertised! Go on line and get the local telphone number and put it in your wallet so you have it when you get to the pier in the Bhamas, then call and ask.........if you ask anyone on the ship they will tell you they never heard of it.........trust me it exist!!! I got the hint years ago from a message board!
