Am I the only one to cry the last night?

I sat on the balcony the last night of our cruise and first of all thanked God for all the wonderful memories that we will forever have etched in our minds for this short but wonderful week of our lives. A lot of people never experience this, ever, but we did and for that I am grateful. Then I cried, because I didn't want it to end. Some of the reasons why I cried were because:

We were on the lido deck on the 15th of April (my girlfriend's birthday) and we asked this couple to take a picture of us. They were there with their son (4) who they adopted from Russia when he was 6 months old. Getting to know them really made an indention in our hearts. You really don't realize that you can make some really good friends on a week long cruise, but we did.

I know a lot of people don't like Jamaica but we had a great experience there. We had planned to go to Dunn's River Falls but we missed the excursion and instead ended up going along with 6 other people white water rafting. When we first got there my impression was not the greatest because I was expecting "new" equipment, etc..our guide Mackel made all the difference for us. He was the best-he answered every and any question I had for him with a smile and a "yeah, mon". He worked his butt off everytime our raft got "stuck". He explained the economy and such in Jamaica after many questions from my inquiring mind. These people are really poor in this country. He did do something special for us at the end of the excursion that none of the other people with us got. Just my and my girlfriend's raft. He used limestone and washed our feet-basically scrubbed the callouses off of them. He was great for this. We tipped him $20 and had I not lost so much money in the casino I would have given him more. He was a blessing to us.

Another thing that I will always remember. While we were docked in Jamaica I got into the bed and all of a sudden I felt like someone was in the next room playing drums. I went back on the balcony and there were about 17 kids in a marching band. I saw one lady a few balconies over calling the young kid over and she threw something down to him about 50 feet. I thought It was a piece of paper but it was money. Everyone started throwing down money and change and these kids would pick it up. It is something I will never forget.

I will never forget the karaoke, the shows, the endless food, all of it. Today I am blue because I miss it already. Our experience was awesome and I'm realizing that we didn't see the half of what there is to see. I am dreaming of our next cruise and holding these memories that I will never forget.

Always a little blue at the end...

Grateful that we can get away for a week together...

Grateful that our dining room staff make each evening a wonderful experience (no cooking, cleaning or making dinner that everyone will like)...

Grateful that I am able to travel to wonderful places and meet wonderful people...

yes...grateful and blessed.

We don't cruise till September, and my wife is already teary eyed...;)

I gotta admit, I even tear up the last night a dinner when the staff sings, "You're leaving our Fun Ship" (which if you dont know is set to the tune of "Leaving on a Jet Plane") :o

When we went on our first cruise on EnOS, I had planned so long and dreamt so much, and looked at every pic on these boards, that I cried during EMbarkation!!!! My DD's and husband just rolled their eyes. But after that cruise, they were hooked, and they also could could cry for joy as we embarked on our second cruise. We are truly blessed indeed.:)

I agree...that song that I heard at dinner for the first time took me by surprise. I was already feeling the effects of the cruise coming to an end and then they did their number...WOW! I was mopey the rest of the night. I'll be prepared for it this year and enjoy the week we have had and look forward to booking another with such a wonderful crew.

Yes, I call it the Debark Blues.

The answer........book another cruise before you go on one. Even if it's for a year after your current cruise, you'll have something to look forward to, research and think about.

Thanks to all of you for your responses to my post. Today at work I couldn't wait to tell all of my coworkers of my cruise. I am a dealer/supervisor at a casino and I was standing on the deck and looking at the water and thinking about my cruise. The only thing is that we are not a "ship" that sails but a riverboat on the Red River: However, it was nice reliving the memories. I spent all day online yesterday looking to book another cruise at the end of September as I don't want to take my vacations too close together even though I would leave tomorrow for another one. Thanks again for all of your responses.

You sound like a perfect candidate for one of our cruises... We have a group, the Committed Conquest Crazies, sailing on the Conquest 20 Sep of 09... Fantastic group of people.

We have folks on every Conquest cruise from August through October of this year. I'm sailing 28 Sep along with several of my fellow Crazies. Check it out... these are good people and great folks to sail with...

I get a little bit sad, because I do not want to get back to reality. If I have had a particularly good cruise, with a great group of people, I'm sad for it to end because I know that the odds of that particular grouping getting together again in the same way is not likely. But I always try to have a cruise in the hopper, so i can focus my energies on my return to the next great adventure, and next opportunity to make some great memories. :)

Ok we just got off a ship last Saturday and I'm suffering from PCD as well. However, I'm also looking at yet another cruise to go on.

It is really humbling to see how many folks feel so thankful for cruising as I do. It's nice to know we're not alone.

Nope, you're not the only one. I love cruising so much and I love the sea and I love the ships and every single time, without fail, I cry like a baby on the last night!! :o And it usually happens somewhere very public like the atrium or the dining room. :o

I'm suffering greatly from PCD but luckily, I have a cruise in October to look forward to as well as one in December!! :D

NO Kidding!!! When they start singing that song, the tears well up without fail!! On our last cruise we had such a good time with our waiter Firdosh. He looked over and saw us crying and he came up to us afterwards with tears in his eyes....and another round of Baked Alaska in his hands. ;)

I totally agree with you and understand that feeling. It can honestly be quite depressing. Cruising is such a wonderful experience. I love it so much. Start planning your next cruise and stay in touch with your fellow CC members, trust me it is quite sobering and for me, therapeutic for my PCDs.

I want to cry when I get my sail and sign bill.

No really I want to cry but stop myself and usually if I do not have a cruise already booked I am scheming up the next one.

I think I did start crying once on the Rembrandt, because it was such a cool group of people and I was with better half and we had such a great time. And also I did not want to go back to work....

OMG, that makes me cry everytime!! :o It's such a heartbreaker!! :( I'm going to have to hear it again this coming October (maybe I can leave the dining room before they sing it and come back in for dessert if they haven't served it already before they started singing).

Cry? No. Not that I'm not moved on the last evening of every cruise. It never fails. I can't sleep, I pace about glancing out the window or standing on the balcony for a few moments, the cruise replaying through my mind...

The fact that I am fortunate and able to cruise fairly often never eludes me. The fact that some people don't like to cruise or refuse to cruise amazes me. Perhaps it takes them too far out of their comfort zone, perhaps the sight of the poverty of lands like Jamaica makes them uncomfortable.

The time I spend on the sea is precious. I wonder at the beauty of the sea and marvel at the sunsets.

We, who cruise, are fortunate, indeed.

Congratulations. You've found a little bit of heaven on Earth.

Now you went and made me cry.

After Openheart, and Brain surgery, in the last 10 years, I do that most everyday of my life!..Cruising brings you closer to the world and its great expanse of beuaty and humanities, and to realize what one does have, rather than what one is missing. Cruising is more than a voyage on water, it is a voyage into life.
