vickwick Posted April 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Is parking difficult in Lahaina and Kaanapali beach area? Just wondering if it would be best to do a car rental and drive to Lahaina or do the NCL Lahaina on your own tour. Thanks.
bug_dan Posted April 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2008 This link is a map showing the parking lots in Lahaina, ir you can get hold of a Maui Revealed book they show which lots are free. Lots are shown in pink. http://www.bestofmauiguide.com/Images/MauiPics/LahainaWalkingMap.pdf At Kaanapali Beach, there is plenty of parking at Whaler's Village, here's a link for a map of Kaanapali. http://www.driveguidemagazines.com/maui_kaanapali.html There is a shuttle/bus running between Kaanapali and Lahaina, cost about $1, might be more now. Of course a car would give you greater freedom, it's about a 45 minute drive from Kahului to Lahaina, traffic can slow things down at times. One thing to keep in mind now is the increased cost of gasoline, which can make ship tours more of a bargain:)

Do you know if there are any secure parking lots in Lahaina (near the port). We would prefer to park in a secure lot overnight even if we have to pay for it. Any info you have would be appreciated. bug_dan Posted April 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Most of the lots are municipal lots and while there are some that are free, they tend to always be full:( Cost as I remember it from last Nov was $15 from 5 pm to 9 am. You purchase the number of hours you think you will need and the machine will print a ticket showing what you paid for. The automated ticket machines accept either cash or plastic. As far as I know, it isn't secured parking, although I would imagine they may be patrolled? I was going through some previous posts on Lahaina Parking and someone mentioned the cost was $5 for overnite after 5 pm. This was at the lot behind Burkger King, across from the Banyan Tree. Lot is actually behing BK.
