I have paid for the entire cost of the total cruise (fare, travel costs, SS bill, extras, etc) at the Craps table on several cruises.

The most I have won over the course of one evening at a Craps table while on a cruise, about 10k.

I love to watch but have not been able to figure out how to play.

Most Craps players and dealers are often very willing to teach the game to newbies. That said, don't wait until the table is packed and hot for your first lesson.... a green horn learning for the first time on a packed hot table WILL piss people off. (including the dealers)

Craps is a lot like sex, you can watch all you want, but you got to jump in and do it to really understand why people like it so much.

I suggest you approach a player that seems to be having fun, knows what he/she is doing, seems friendly outgoing (but not drunk) and is not being a know it all, yelling out all kinds of crazy bets with lingo (example a yo and on the horn split with midnight with a hard eight for the boy and girls) most bets in the center of the table are sucker bets and that is why they pay off so well. (That said, all Craps players are suckers from time to time.. if you get the "call" you got to listen and make the bet!)

Also, I am yet to see the casino that does not offer lesson on how to play the table games around mid morning, early afternoon.... I do think such lessons are worth the time invested, take the lesson more then once, to get the hang of it. Although the table looks complex the game it's self is quite simple.

There is lots of stuff online as well about the game.

For the thrill of the action, what a casino is really about, there is NOTHING like the Craps table.

Won over $800 on nickel slots last October on Liberty after only playing about $5. The best part was that it was 12:30AM, the Red Sox had just won the penant about 1/2 hour earlier and at midnight it was birthday. Best Birthday ever!

An interesting follow-on question for all these 'winners' might be...'how much did you invest in the machine or table, before you hit the 'big one'? This information will allow a quick 'net gain' calculation using basic math, and it's usually a negative number..

I'm guessing that most will be more reluctant or simply not recall this important bit of information. DW always seems to forget to factor that piece in when excitedly telling me about her 'winnings'..

So I ask all of you winners....how much did you put in prior to 'winning'??

I won $800 playing Bingo. DH was in the casino, I walked in asking him if he needed any cash and pulled out of my evening bag a wad of cash. Was so nervous carrying that amount--went straight to the purser's office. That was before safes were in rooms. Sure was nice to get a check from Carnival at the end of the trip instead of a bill.

If you read my original post you would have seen that I had about $5 in the quarter machine. It was the first machine I sat down to play my first night in the casino. I hit a jackpot once for over $17,000 in a land casino with only $4 in the machine, and have many times hit large jackpots with less than $20 in the machine. I am not one to sit there and just feed a machine, so it can happen.

We just got back from Spirit last week. My best friend won almost $14,000 on a penny progressive. She had oput about $20 into before she hit it. I on the other hand put $60 into it right before and moved over a seat . . .rotten timing on my part but I was really happy for her! We did ask about taxes. Carnival said they do report it. They did not withhold any taxes. They gave her the option of tkaing cash or they would send her a check.

I won $500 on a penny slot with a $1 bet on this same cruise. On our Miracle cruise, my husband and I both won a couple of big jackpost on wheel of fortune.

My husband won $65K on a dollar machine at an indian reservation casino once. Uncle Sam got a lot of tax money from us that year!

This is truly good luck! :) Unfortunately, the statistical odds are against this kind of luck, and most are not as lucky as you..

Border Granny is my mom, and I can vouch for her good luck. She is actually luckiest when she has never been in a place before, so I am hoping she hits big on our trip in a few days!

Now I, on the other hand, have as much luck on slots as I would just throwing my money to the wind and seeing if it comes back to me. But that doesn't stop me from playing. Bingo, on the other hand, is where my luck is. Hence, the "free" cruise in August.

DW loves bingo as well, but the cards are so expensive these days it seems. We're from San Diego, and we have several Indian gaming casinos around that are just like Vegas. DW can play bingo all night at one of these casinos for $10-$20. You're lucky to be able to play one game on a ship for that price..

As for luck, I'm with you.. I might as well drop a couple of hundred into the toilet and flush, as walk into a casino (same results).. :(

Hubby on the Glory had a number of wins on the slots and Caribbean Stud. I would say it was about $6K in total. We paid off the sign and sail and came home with all our travelers checks and more money than we left with.

Good cruise.

Well I have to tell you that I have never seen someone so lucky like my wife was on our recent Glory cruise.

Now let me first say she lost for two days, about $200 then it all started with a quarter she found on the floor. She dropped it in a machine and won a few bucks and this continued. Her first hit was for $3220.00. It never seemed to stop after that.

When the week finally came to a close we had a W2G under our cabin door and the total was $6,920,00. I can't believe it. The same casino attendant was the one that kept clearing the machine and it got to a point where he would just say "not you again". The last time that week that she hit was for $980. She got up, yes, the same guy, gave him a big hug and said to him "I just love you!!!!" LOL

We ended up tipping him $100.

The one time we were at the casino bar having a drink. I noticed her watching this guy at a Wheel of Fortune machine who just dropped about $150. I saw the look on her face and thought "she is going to that machine when he leaves". Well, low and behold he got up and left and she went and put a 20 into it and ended up winning $1500. It was so unbelievable, I've never seen anything like it...neither has carnival...LOL

I told her that without a doubt they were following her on security cameras the rest of the week. Everytime she put her sail n sign card in a machine it probably set off alarms...LOL

Needless to say, it paid off the cruise, our sail n sign bill and we already booked the Legend with that money for next year. Yes, they got it all back, but we're getting another cruise out of it and we booked a Category 11 Suite to celebrate her winnings.

We are so excited to have booked the suite. We have been wanting to do that for our last 9 Carnival cruises and just thought the balcony would be okay. Our day has arrived and hopefully we won't lose our butts on the next cruise in the casino.

BTW, it it means anything to any of you....I won a measly little $280 on Roulette. It was a good thing she was winning because I could nothing right.

Okay, bear with me for a few questions re: Carnival Conquest.

1) It seemed like everyone in our party won big the first night and then lost the remainder of the trip (most were playing craps.) Has anyone else had the same experience? And if so, why not play the first night, and just pocket the winnings if we know it's going to be that way?

2) There was a guy, I think on the 4th night walking around the ship telling everyone he had paid for his entire family's trip for the 3rd straight time playing craps. Seeing him once on the Lido deck was one thing, but the 3rd time I found him that night talking to a group of people outside of the casino I found it suspicious. I truly think he was "working" for the casino. Do you think it's possible? Has anyone seen someone like this walking around the ship?

Just curious...

I probably play a lot differently than most slot players, I don't sit there and feed the machines, I will move along if it doesn't hit pretty fast, and it seems to work for me. I had two different outings to land casinos where I ended up winning almost $10,000 both days and I never had more than $20 in any machine (I kept hitting jackpots all day). It's probably a wierd system but it seems to work for me. I can play for quite a while longer before my losses will surpass my winnings. I just hope my luck holds for our upcoming cruise:) Like Kelli said I tend to do pretty well in new places, and since I haven't been on the Ecstasy yet, there's always hope!
